They finally get it right again as far as the format. But they leave off people like Phyllis Diller, Mel Stuart and Andy Griffith but they mention Adam Yauch from the Beastie Boys? WTF is that?

They also forgot to mention Steve Jobs again. He really should be on it every year.

Probably because the guys producing the stuff grew up with the Beastie Boys and they never watched Matlock.

What's the official reach of it? Do they have to be in movies, a member of something, etc?

It probably should be limited to people in the academy

They should honor people who were nominated for an Oscar. Everyone else can fuck off. Same thing should apply to Golden Globes, Emmy's, Grammy's, etc...

That would be great if one day Harry's face is up there in memoriam. You know that stroke has paid dues to keep his SAG card even though he hasn't appeared in anything in 30 years.

I heard Mac & Spiegs mention that for those to be mentioned in the "In Memoriam" segment, he/she had to win an Oscar to be included. I was under the impression the "In Memoriam" was for all in entertainment that we said goodbye to in the last 12 months.

 Maybe I am missing something. They included pictures of both Andy and Phyllis. Was there more they were supposed to do? I can't remember if they gave a little highlight blurb or not. Maybe that's the beef.

That's not what I heard. I don't think they included Richard Dawson either. He may have been best known as the original host of "Family Feud" from 1976-1985 and again in 1994, but Dawson was on "Hogan's Heroes" from 1965-1971 as "Newkirk", and he did co-star in a couple of movies, 1966's "Munster Go Home!" & 1987's "The Running Man".

The Oscars really dropped the fucking ball this year re: the Memoriam. I didn't need to see Anne Hatheway give a 10 min. acceptance speech for an award in which she was nominated for the wrong movie.
