So homosexuality is a disease and the gay movement is getting Pastors thrown in jail for teaching the bible?

Every time I leave this thread I think it can't get any more bizarre. I'm then proven wrong.

I wonder where the NAMBLA post I read yesterday went?

I think we are getting off track if suddenly we believe that every tragedy that happens is God's plan. I don't think people understand the power of human will to do evil on Earth.

well make up your mind. either there's human will or there's god's will. god made man, so if man can do something, god willed it. it's simple logic.

remember, it was god's will to destroy job's whole family to prove a point.

I think there is a difference what God allows humans to do and what he wills. The problem is that you have different forces in the world. There is God's will, there is human will and there is the will of the devil. God's will and the devil's will along with much of what humans will are in conflict. God's will doesn't always happen. That's part of the Lord's Prayer: "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it in heaven."

God created man a perfect being in his image. But man was tempted by Satan to become his own god and because of that sin and death entered the world. Modern man wants to be his own god because he can define his morality, sexuality and life by his own standards. But God's standards are not man's standards and not everything that happens is man's will.

You have to understand that people die every day, that doesn't mean God takes pleasure and wishes for everyone to die, although all of us will. His will is for everyone to be saved through the death of his son. But the problem is that much of mankind hates God's and hates his laws and wishes to live without him. Yet when a tragedy occurs they want to blame him for not protecting them.

The problem of Job is the classic, "Why do good things happen to bad people?" God allowed Satan to test Job, but that doesn't mean specifically that God killed his family. Jesus said that no one is good except for God alone and he promised his disciples that they would have trouble. In fact many of them were martyred for their faith. But his kingdom and promises were not a perfect life on earth, but a perfect life in heaven.

I don't want to misquote the original poster of it, so I'll give himself a chance to explain it. Otherwise, I'll say what my recollection of it was. It has since been deleted.

Thats a great reason to live in a suburb that has great public schools. If you live in the city, you almost have to send your kids to a private school to get a good education. But if you live in a suburb like Elmhurst (where my kids went to YORK) or Winnetka (New Trier) or Hinsdale (Hinsdale Central) just to name a few, your kids get a great education and the money saved on a private school goes to college tuition instead.

I do not think homosexuality is a disease or disorder of any kind.

I guess Mini Ditka does. That's why my original point was he shouldn't hold his breath waiting for gays to go away.

His original post never asked for, nor set an expectation that gays would go away.

His original post stated that he preferred to be able to exercise his religious freedom. The attempt to take that away from him and others is in full force currently.

Mini Ditka is a really sick individual. Kinda frightening almost.

Why do you feel it's more important to defend his right to not be offended than it is to defend a homosexual person's right not to be discriminated against?

What religious freedom is anyone taking away? He can still hate gays all he wants. Nobody is saying he can't.

The majority of people just believe that a gay person should have equal rights to jobs, civil unions, freedom of speech, and all other rights given to American's. All personal right's of an individual trump anyone's religious rights. He can hate gays all he wants, he just can't treat them as second class citizens.

First of all, who are you to say he hates gays?

And where did he ever say he wanted gays treated as second class citizens?

Please cite what he posted. Please. Don't cite your interpretation of it.

Did you miss the part where it was an issue that a teacher acknowledged gay parenting?

Seacrest - it's very simple. If you think gay people shouldn't have the right to get married, you are advocating discrimination and treating them as second class citizens. Stop using religion as justification for bigotry. Your God would be ashamed.

God is unequivocally clear about what behavior he finds acceptable.

Your issue is with Him. Not me.

Perhaps. My issue is with anyone who wishes to create a second class citizenship for people they dont understand or agree with. If that includes your God, so be it. It doesn't include mine.

I had this converstion with Bryan earlier in the thread.

I'm not comfortable being the arbiter of moral decisions for myself or others. I'll leave that up to God.

But seeing that you are comforatable with that, don't be surprised that another person who feels that they have same power as you, may actually disagre with you.

It's the unsolvable connundrum of the moral relativist.

When God rewrites the constitution, I'm sure he will address all the people he finds unacceptable.

Yeah, I saw you incorrectly label him the relativist in this situation. It confirmed to me that you have been so clouded by your religious beliefs that you just have no idea what you're talking about anymore.

It also goes to an increased cost of living in the form of home prices. I get the point though.

I could send this thing to 20 pages by re opening the discussion about the benefits I believe are available with certain private schools but that one has been discussed to exhaustion...at least on my part (others tend to never get exhausted).

God doesn't write Constitutions. He did send the 10 commandments though.

He does find all people made in His image and likeness. Each individual person. And He set out in various ways how we should behave. And even when we fail, He still loves us.

God is always faithful, even though as human beings we are not. I understand what He offers is often times too simple for us to accept.

God is the arbiter of moral behavior. God by his nature can not change.

Therefore it isn't possible for him to be a relativist.
