He fired everybody and privatized this shit. For the first month the new people were polite but incompetent. That wasn't a bad tradeoff since the city workers were rude as fuck. Now the new people are still incompetent, but quckly becoming nearly as rude as the old people. Chicago: the city that doesn't work.

Now they're on the third floor. Same building.

That changes everything!~

My favorite part was that not one of them could tell you how many gallons were in a "UNIT" on the old meters.

They knew how much a unit cost, but no clue as too how much a unit was in terms of water used.

Try permitting a water main with them...you just might kill a co-worker.

One part of a group of the city's version of the Illuminati known as the Board of Underground.

They should call it the black hole as paperwork goes but never comes out.

yeah...I know them. Was very familiar.
Office of Underground Coordination...aka Damage Prevention Council. I was on an F.B.I. approval list post 9/11. I believe Darko was as well.

Not nearly as bad as the Water Dept.

Yeah, was doing fiber optics terminations back then.
I don't think I'm still on that list. Unless it needs ventilation installed. 8)

I almost got escorted out of there by security when I was a wee law clerk getting water certs.

The fat, bag-a-Cheeto-eatin' bitches popped out 15 minutes before 4:30 closing time and took their "mandatory smoke breaks", leaving a full fucking line to wait, wait, wait, only to eventually disband in frustration, having to come back the next day.

Some of the most heinous shit I have ever seen. I spoke up, and two of the fat bitches started chest-bump loudmouthing shit across the whole room at me and then started shouting for security . . . yet THEY were the ones doing all of the belligerent yelling.

Ok, I did call them worthless abusers of public funds who deserve to be unemployed.

I think the new outfit took over on January 4. Apparently, the big title companies and maybe a few big real estate law firms are set up to pull their certs online. I think the long term plan is for everyone to be able to do it online. But anyway, whereas the place had previously looked like a fuckin' homeless shelter with all the goofs working for services like Lawyer's Legs and Legal Helpers, it was suddenly empty. That was great for me. It's a short walk over for me to get a cert and now the wait was short too. But something must not be going so smooth with the online process because I am slowly seeing the crowd begin to grow.

My real beef yesterday was that you can walk in with two apps for FPC and wait for them or you can drop them off and supposedly pick them up at your convenience. Well, I dropped off four certs on 2/14 and came in to pick them up. So the woman tells me I have to wait behind all these other people. Why the fuck would I drop that shit off and wait 14 days if I'm going to spend an hour there anyway? And to top it off, they weren't ready anyhow! I need to record these fuckin' deeds, you assholes. If you need that shit for a closing, you better stay on top of it.

Oh yeah, one more thing. Inevitably, there is always some big shot lawyer in there. A guy dressed real sharp among all the homeless-looking bums. Usually a guy that looks kind of like good dolphin, but sometimes it may be an older black lawyer in a spiffy suit. Anyway, I assume these aren't regular real estate attorneys but guys who work in other legal areas but are handling a deal for a friend or maybe just for themselves. And these guys always think the whole fucking world is supposed to stop for them. They walk up to the counter with their authoritative "I'm an attorney" style and start demanding the same shit the rest of us have been waiting hours for. When the person at the counter finally convinces them to have a seat, they will continuously get up and ask more questions which just slows down the process for everyone else.

Gotta know a guy! There are a few guys that do so many of the in the city, they get it done, inspectors dont give them a hassle, they tell them exactly where the "tap" truck is, etc,.

But do it by the book, and good luck. You need to get in that line, then wait in that chair and then take a number for approval...oh...we take lunch from 11:30 to 1:00, then leave at 3:45. We repoen at 7:30 AM, but I usualy don't get in until 8:15 or so.

I'm not talking about a water service. I'm talking about an 8" main with fire hydrants, 5' diameter brick valve vaults and pressure connections....and they have to sign your IEPA water permit. Having a "guy" in this scenario, means he gets the hassle and you don't.

I don't know a damn thing about water service or how it arrives, I'm just glad when it comes out of the tap. It's like magic! But I was truly fascinated when they were replacing the mains a couple years ago on Union near 38th and the old pipes they dug up were made of wood.

Pretty crazy...
The Romans built Aqueducts over of miles and used the pressure head of the elevation change to "push" the water out of their fountains. That's how many of them still operate.

Bernoulli is my hero.

and...AND!

A non-spinning baseball or a stationary baseball in an airstream exhibits symmetric flow. A baseball which is thrown with spin will curve because one side of the ball will experience a reduced pressure. This is commonly interpreted as an application of the Bernoulli principle and involves the viscosity of the air and the boundary layer of air at the surface of the ball.

You trying to say Jesus Christ can't hit a curveball?

Depends...Jesus at age 30, in his time, before baseball was invented, with a pitcher from the future (our time)?
Or
Son of God Jesus, with a pitcher from our time?

because there's a huge difference there in believe-ability to connect on said pitch.

btw: a "unit' is typically 750 gallons of water.

Jesus, in his prime, vs. a modern curveball. I think Jesus, having similar genetic credentials to a Ken Griffey Jr. or Barry Bonds should have no problem waiting on and turning on a curveball.

O.k., so...Jesus in his prime, which we will say is around 30 years old.
HE has never seen a baseball or knows what the hell a Louisville slugger is...and he is facing the best h.s. pitcher in the State of Texas for 2013.

Does he even make contact in 10 pitches?

I bet he fouls off one in 100...

and connects on pitch 199 of 200 before the kids arm falls off from overuse. Jesus heals him of course before sending him back to the future.

dude please, he knows what a Louisville Slugger is... I mean shit he spent 3 days nailed to a Sluggerss cousin, you know, and plus the whole omnipotent thing. Yeah, Jesus casts that curveball out of Lazarus stadium 9 of 10 times.

So, by Jesus "in his prime"...you mean Resurrected Jesus?

We'll, then yeah...it's not even fair.

I'd say he was in his prime before the spear of destiny... so I'd say "prime" being before he died.
I still think Resurrected Jesus could hit a curveball too, unless holes in his hands puts holes in his swing.
Resurrected Jesus probably has a bit more swagger, fire and passion though.
