It's now up to him. Rose wants to feel confident dunking off his left foot before he plays in an NBA game.

Good news for ticket scalpers. Must have been tough for the season ticket holders to move their tickets this year.

I will return to the lineup when I can dunk off either foot, but just so you know that may be awhile.

Who will be the first to nominate him for dbotw because he hasn't returned as quickly as they thought? Here's where I'd put the odds.

Jimmypasta -110
Mini Ditka +150
Steve +260
cpguy +500

ABC executives are praying in their New York office, as well ESPN executives in Bristol, CT. Might ESPN on ABC get the first D.Rose game as soon as Sunday vs. the Lakers in Los Angeles, the second game of an NBA twinbill starting with Celtics/Thunder?

If he comes back in a week or so, there will be enough time to grab the 2nd seed (4 games back right now). At worst, the Bulls would get the 4th seed with his return. That would be a lock. Right now the Nets have the 4th and the Bulls are only 1 game behind them.

What would be their reaction if Rose was cleared to come back and play his first game back on their network, but it was against the Spurs?

Well, it won't be against the Spurs. I really think the NBA's broadcast partners want to see Derrick play as much as anyone, if not more. To the networks, it means ratings.

Well, it won't be against the Spurs.

I know. This is a hypothetical situation. What if it was? Would they still want him to return, or would they not care? I think it's a good question considering that since the Spurs are playing the ratings will be worse than every other channel on TV.

I think it's wrong to say the networks have something to do with it. Isn't the billing already set for the advertisers? Or do they bill afterwards based on the ratings? I'm pretty sure it's already billed and paid.

Plus why would D-Rose care if ABC is happy?

I would suggest that Adidas might want it to be a national TV game. Rose could be influenced by Adidas. Cuz I'll bet they have a commercial set for that return game that they'd love to air on national TV the day of his return. Adidas has been doing a series on his rehab. You know they have one set for his return to complete the series.

I created an "ABCBosses" mult on Tuesday, but it was deleted yesterday. It would have certainly had a thought on the matter.

I dont care what your beef was with SHARK, or what it evolved into, The San Antonio Spurs are bad for ratings and anyone who has interest in high ratings, would logically root against them.

There really is no arguing that.

I thought I explained what the argument was.

My point: Miami vs. Whoever in the Finals = Big Ratings

His point: Only Boston or Los Angeles = Big Ratings

My counter: Neither Boston or Los Angeles were involved in the 2011 Finals and the ratings were great.

His response: San Antonio got bad Finals ratings.

My response: San Antonio isn't a part of the discussion.

Then, after the Finals with OKC ended, he stated that the Finals ratings were high because of Lebron, which was my original damn point. I never argued the San Antonio thing. It was always irrelevant to the point I was making.

Not even constant sightings of Eva Longoria, the former "Desperate Housewives" star who was married to Tony Parker, couldn't spike ratings for ABC's coverage of the 2007 NBA Finals vs. LeBron James' former Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals. Still the lowest rated Finals ever.

It also wasn't much of a series. That was a four-game sweep, wasn't it?

I believe it was. The Spurs took LeBron to school, much like LeBron took Derrick Rose and the Bulls to school in the Eastern Conference Finals 2 years ago with the Heat.

Nobody is, Ike. Bulls Owner/Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf was very specific last summer on ESPN Radio 1000 AM, shortly after Derrick Rose's long road recovery started that he wants Rose "fully healthy" and won't clear the current face of the franchise until he is. Reinsdorf felt that Jordan came back too soon after he broke his foot in his second season during a 1985 road game at Golden State.

I dont think that is an accurate representation of Shark's side, or I misunderstood him last year.

But your point is flawed. Your point seems to suggest there is a max ratings to reach and as long as the Heat are there, it doesnt matter who they're playing

Not true

Heat-Spurs would draw worse rating than Heat-Lakers or Heat-Thunder or Heat-Clippers

Regardless of who the Eastern Conference rep is, ABC bosses dont want the Spurs.

I don't know that LeBron took the Bulls to school that much. The Bulls were in every game and the Heat were over 100 points once at 101 points in the series. The reason why the Bulls lost was Rose's ankle was bothering him and the Heat has Wade and Bosh on their team. If you take Wade or Bosh off their team the Bulls probably win the series very easily.

LeBron on that Cavs team was not the same player as the LeBron of recent record-breaking shooting. The Spurs won because they had better players and they play team ball. The Spurs play as a team rather than looking for a guy in a cape to take over the game for them.

You did misunderstand him, which is why I got frustrated with both of you. You were having a different conversation than what I was trying to have.

And why are you still stressing the Spurs part? I never disagreed with that. The four Finals they were in, all got horrible ratings. I never debated that.

Your assessment that Heat/Spurs would draw worse ratings than the other hypothetical Heat matchups is probably true, but also irrelevant to my point. Again, my point, as simply as I stated it last year, is that the Heat vs. Anybody would do a great number. I stand by that point, because it's true. We're having two separate conversations here, it seems. And it's clear that SHARK was never having the same conversation I was having either.

Thats fine, but the Heat vs almost anyone else would do a GREATER number.

So, its not like ABC bosses would just stop caring because the Heat got in, you dont just want a high number, you want the highest number possible

The point is, you dont just get high, you get super high.

And I will end my week with that.

If the NBA really cared about ratings they would start their season earlier and/or do more back to backs in the playoffs to get to the NBA Finals before June.

Yeah the solution to the NBA's problems is to add more back to back games. Good call.
