Say your team is 9-3 and had the third best record in the Big Ten. They have the option of being the last team in a 16-team national football playoff or can opt out and play in the Rose bow against the third best team in the Pac12. Which do you choose?

This was not my scenario I don't believe. It had nothing to do with opting out of the playoff or being in 3rd place(since you know, the 3rd place team can't play in the Rose Bowl). It's likely that in a 16 team playoff the "Rose Bowl" would simply be one of the semi-finals or the final.

It was that instead of being the 16th seed in a national playoff and going to play at Alabama and get smoked I'd rather go to the Rose Bowl and attend that historic game and the implications of it.

I'm saying that I'd rather go to the Rose Bowl in the current format rather than go be the 16th seed in a new format and have your season end by a blowout loss to the best team in the country. As I said before, the idea here is that my team will likely never be good enough to be a favorite for the national title. However, the Rose Bowl is attainable.

I would too, but that's because in that scenario the Rose Bowl is the equivalent of Outback Bowl. conns just continues to ignore my actual point even after I explained it to him already a few times.

Let's make this simple. This was my scenario.

1) You are the Big Ten representative in the Rose Bowl, either by winning the conference, or by being second and having the first place Big Ten team in the title game. You may be an underdog, but by not playing the best team in the country you have a much better shot at being competitive or even winning.
2) You make the football playoffs, are the #16 seed, and your first game is against Alabama either in Atlanta or at Alabama's stadium. You are going to go in as a heavy underdog.

We aren't scheduled to win another bowl until 2076, so I'm not sure I care.

Under what 16 team scenario would the Rose bowl not be as important as the Outback bowl? Even if no bowl games are used, what good teams are going to opt out of a playoff to play in the Rose Bowl?

I do read. You changed your argument. Before it was simply, "Give me the Rose bowl over a 16 seed in a playoff."

Link please. I know for a fact I explained it to you that time, and I've explained it to you again, and now again.

Opting out was NEVER part of it. Prove me wrong though. However, given the obvious fact that if there was a 16 team playoff, the Rose Bowl would simply be part of the tournament, and therefore impossible to opt out and go to, you'll have trouble.

It's going to be really hard because opting out was never part of it. It was a comparison of two systems. As I just pointed out, the Rose Bowl would be part of the playoff in any scenario. Opting out wouldn't send you to the Rose Bowl. It may send you to the Outback Bowl.

If you aren't willing to look for it then stop misquoting me since it's pretty obvious you don't even know what I actually said.

My actual objection to the playoff is only for 8 teams. I would like the 16 team playoff better even if my described scenario of getting blown out in round 1 in Alabama is worse than CURRENTLY going to the Rose Bowl.
