The site is kind of lame, but you can make your own Simpsons avatar (this is about as close as I could get to my own self):

Does anybody know if they are doing midnight showings for this one when it opens?

All I know is I'll be there opening weekend, and I'm hoping that at the end, Comic Book Guy comes out and says :

WORST.
MOVIE.
EVER.

I'm sure he'll be wearing a T-Shirt with something to that effect...

I'll be there, but I'm a little nervous because my expectations have never been higher for a movie...

based on...? the lower-than-shit quality the show has put out in the last 3 seasons?

i just hope i can make it through the whole thing without wanting to walk out.

i can't remember the last time i watched a full simpsons episode. i think it was 2 years ago. and that was because i was cooking dinner throughout the whole thing so i had left it on.

Based on my overall appreciation for the show. The last few seasons haven't been great, but I still watch because I know the potential is there. There is a very high ceiling for this movie...there's also a very low floor. :?

Maybe they've saved the best ideas for the flick.

If the theatrical trailer is any indicator of the film's quality, this movie is going to be pretty bad.

I seem to remember the quality of South Park (TV) dropping sharply while they were working on the South Park movie...

it wasn't a 3 season long slide, and it wasn't as unwatchable as the simpsons has been.

i think they did bring back a lot of the original writers for the simpsons movie. that might be good, but it may not make a difference.

I read somewhere that the trailer has absolutely nothing to do with the movie - those were created to deliberately NOT give anyone a clue as to what the movie is about.

I can believe that because the trailer itself is pretty nondescript. It squashed any enthusiasm I had for the idea of the movie.

Haven't seen the official movie trailer but I have seen the previews on primetime TV (awful, one snipet had something to do with a spiderpig?). I guess they figure people are going anyway so there's no reason to display funny/interesting clips of the movie

Three seasons? I remember talking with my friends about how much worse the show was compared to before when I was in 8th grade. I'm now entering into my senior year of college.

I've seen the trailer as well, and I think that the movie is going to be criminally bad.

Yes, since season 10 it's been shit quality. Since Season 13 it's been lower than shit.

didnt people say the same thing about 'beavis and butthead do america'?

while it clearly was not going to win any oscars, i thought it was a decent movie, and had quite a few funny parts

Beavis and Butt-Head Do America justifiably got rave reviews across the board at the time of its release, including two thumbs up from Siskel and Ebert.

multiple trailers were released. Groening himself said that if it wasn't funny they wouldn't release it. they basically lobbied against a greenlight for the project. they got funding for the script, but if it sucked they'd never release the picture.

i'm sure it'll will be quite good and i am looking forward to it. the rest of you negative nancy's can suck a lemon when you're wrong.

Judging by these last few seasons it's obvious Groening's standard of humor is not what it was.

But hey, if these episodes weren't funny I wouldn't be watching them. .

all of the former writers with the exception of Conan contributed to the script.

I'll go. I have too. After 18 seasons, I'm wondering what plot they felt could only be told in a movie.

The plot where you pay $12 to go see an extended episode.

I went to the midnight show tonight. As a big Simpsons fan, I was not disappointed. I'm not going to give anything away, but the first 15 minutes in particular were hysterical.

i'm going next week when my dad's in town, he wants to see it with me.

kind of reminds me of the simpsons episode when homer finally takes bart to see the itchy & scratchy movie...except i am not the chief justice of the supreme court.

One other thing...the movie is really short. The movie didn't start until about 12:15 (after the previews) and the credits started rolling about 1:30.
