Yes. They are playing at a very low level, but it's still sport. A sport doesn't lose its status as a sport, just because it is being played by less than world class athletes.

In every softball league in which I have played, there were many out of shape guys with braces on their knees, who could barely move. It's still a sport.

If anybody isn't sure what is a sport, check the dictionary definitions that I have listed here:

sport [spawrt, spohrt]
noun
1. an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature, as racing, baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, wrestling, boxing, hunting, fishing, etc.
2. a particular form of this, especially in the out of doors.
3. diversion; recreation; pleasant pastime.

If you are still unsure, or want to dispute dictionary definitions of words, I would inquire about some English classes at your local community college.

Fishing is an even more ridiculous example.

At least they don't require motorized vehicles to transport them from location to location.

According to those definitions, Ultimate Frisbee is a sport.

You are aware that a lot of golfers walk, including ALL professionals?

We're not really arguing this. No way. I refuse to accept that.

I walk everyday.

If they would carry their clubs, you might have something. At least then I would call it an athletic event.

The crazy pitcher from the 60s, think his name was Spaceman Bill Lee??? I read his book years ago and pretty sure he said he pitched on acid. Not sure if he ever had a no hitter during one of his trips, but its been about 20 years since I read that book.

Thats just pretty hard to believe. It'd almost have to be like the lowest of low grade acid, and even then I still wouldn't believe him.

Wasn't speed walking an Olympic event?

You can talk me into golf, fishing, and archery being sports. You cant talk me into Speed Walking being a sport.
