Gonna see if I can check in every week or so here, and this was too good to pass up. Turned on the streaming and am getting told by Larry, that I as a White Sox fan am 'soft' and 'stupid' this year because 'we' all want Kenny and Ozzie replaced. Pipe down Holmes and stop trying to paint fans of the Sox so broadly.
Yep, I heard the first 25 minutes of the show, and he called White Sox fans soft and stupid about 10 times because, as he admitted, he had received some dumb calls from the 3% of people who call in to talk radio shows over the past two weeks to talk White Sox baseball.
In another thread about Holmes, I said this, and I think it sums him up pretty good tonight:
Quote:
I think the simple argument is, outside of his football coverage, which I do think he does a good job of reporting, he really has no clue about what he's talking about, and he's constantly trying too hard to create interesting conversation as it too often turns into combative ill-formed arguments.
I don't know that Holmes is stupid, instead moreso just tries too hard to create interesting radio, when he usually does the opposite.
By the way, how many times in one 25 minute segment does he say his name - "You're listening to Lawrence Holmes on the Me Show." ????
Also, first call of the night says that he and the Ranger give the best White Sox commentary in the city, bar none. I think Ranger's pretty good, but this was a pretty stupid comment, and probably dumber than some of these calls he's talking about.
