Not really a rumor anymore. He said it will be LSU.

With him going to LSU, I wonder if he's made starter, I know LSU has a Georgia transfer at quarterback at least.

I guess not over yet, according to collegefootballtalk.com

Here we go again.

Gunner Kiel, the nation’s top-ranked quarterback in the class of 2012, has already flipped once during the recruiting process, decommitting from Indiana over the summer and then verbally committing to LSU a few months later.

Reportedly, he could be doing another flip.

According to a tweet from Scout.com‘s Shea Dixon, “there [was] a 3 p.m. [CT] meeting with early enrollees and Kiel [was] not in attendance.” Kiel had previously stated that he would be enrolling early at LSU and would participate in spring practice.

Instead, the Indiana high school product could be headed to another school, namely Notre Dame.

Kiel has not commented publicly on his status, and the last tweet posted to his Twitter account mentioning the school was Jan. 9. “About to watch my Tigers take it to Alabama!! Geaux Tigers,” Kiel wrote before the BcS title game.

LSU is not permitted to discuss any recruit who has not signed his Letter of Intent or enrolled early at the school.

In addition to being Rivals‘ top-rated pro-style QB, the recruiting service also rates the 6-4, 220-pound Kiel as the No. 19 prospect at any position in the country. As a senior this past season, Kiel threw for over 2,500 yards, ran for nearly 500 more and combined for 39 touchdowns — 28 passing, 11 rushing.

He had also received scholarship offers from, among others, Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Oklahoma, TCU, Tennessee, USC and Wisconsin

If he isn't at Indiana, I would love to see him at Notre Dame.

It won't really hurt LSU, the never have a decent QB and still win.

Odds on Gunner being a bust after he goes to ND?

I didn't know Wisconsin was ever in the mix. He could probably come here and start right away. He would have a good offensive line and Montee Ball to hand the ball off to, one could only hope.

Gunner would be a fool to commit to Notre Dame & Kelly. Stick with LSU & Miles.
Plus, I want to see ND continue to struggle.

Put this in the RIP section, but since he's mostly known for College Football and is the uncle of GUnner, Blair Keil died.

Some sad news hit the Notre Dame football family Easter Sunday as reports filtered out that they had lost one of their own.

According to multiple media outlets, former Irish quarterback Blair Kiel passed away yesterday afternoon. Kiel was presumably celebrating the holiday at a relative’s house in Columbus (Ind.) when he fell ill. After being taken to a local hospital via ambulance, Kiel was pronounced dead at 12:21 p.m. local time.

He was 50 years old at the time of his death.

While toxicology reports will take upwards of six weeks to complete, an autopsy has already determined that Kiel died of natural causes, Bartholomew (Ind.) County coroner Allen Smith told the Chicago Tribune. Smith added that he’s “100-percent sure” Kiel died of natural causes, although he could not confirm it was a heart attack that claimed Kiel’s life as has been rumored.

Kiel became Notre Dame’s first four-year starter at QB since the early part of the 20th century during his playing career, which encompassed the period between 1980-1983. He remains ranked 10th in career passing yards (3,650) and eight in completions (297) at the school. Following his time in South Bend, Kiel went on to play parts of eight seasons in the NFL, as well as brief stints in the Canadian Football League and Arena Football League.

Notre Dame's Kelly confirms Kiel transfer

Kelly says nothing about where he is going, just that he is gone. No future ND competitors, but seems wide open other than that.

Former Notre Dame quarterback Gunner Kiel plans to transfer to Cincinnati.
Kiel recently visited Cincinnati, Ball State, Miami University in Ohio and considered visiting Mississippi this upcoming weekend. He also looked into Kansas State and Mississippi State.

"Cincinnati was the best fit for me because the relationship I have with [quarterbacks] coach [Darin] Hinshaw is like nothing else. He is a great overall person and is someone I know I can get coached by," Kiel said Wednesday. "The group of guys I'm going to be around is second to none. I love where they are heading and the future is bright."

Kiel, 6-foot-4, 210 pounds, was one of the nation's most -recruited players after a stellar career at Columbus East High School in Indiana.

After high school, Kiel committed to Indiana, then LSU, before settling on Notre Dame.

But redshirt freshman Everett Golson won the starting position and led the Irish to the national championship game last season.

Like with Hinshaw, Kiel also has developed a good relationship with Cincinnati offensive coordinator Eddie Gran.

Cincinnati has two senior quarterbacks, Munchie Legaux and Brendon Kay. Kiel will have three years of eligibility remaining and said he wanted a chance to compete for a starting position in 2014.

The Bearcats plan to use a pro-style, multiple offense that should suit Kiel's strengths. Cincinnati probably won't run as much zone-read offense as some other programs are currently using.

Kiel's addition is considered a coup for first-year Bearcats coach Tommy Tuberville. Kiel grew up in Columbus, Ind., which is about 90 miles from Cincinnati.
