Ok so I have a 4GB HD, (bought the cheapest one because I just wanted to get on), but after downloading Spartan Ops and a few other things, I realize I could use more storage...
SO, question is...

I can buy either a HD and install it right? Would transfering my data over be a thing?
Alternatively, can I just put in a jump drive to a USB port? Jumps are cheap. I could triple my space with one for only a couple bucks.

Thoughts?

There's a limit to how big of a jump/thumb/stick drive you can use on the Xbox...think it's either 8 or 16 GB...

...as for getting a hard drive for it, I'm not sure how the transfer works with the new ones. The old system let you buy a HD that came with a transfer cable to get the data off the old one...I don't know how that 4GB of storage on the system you have works.

The prices on these hard drives are crazy. Like over $100. 8G of storage via flash should suffice I guess.

Thank you.

Yeah, Microsoft really fucks you over on them...would be nice if they were like Sony and would let you take any 2.5 laptop drive and plug it in.

Google tells me that the newest dashboard allows 32gigs which is great for me... quite perfect. I think I'll be getting myself one.

Couple years or so ago I actually had some dispensary cash and bought the 250 GB HD. It came with the drive, a transfer cord, and a CD.

The transfer was 100% seamless; 0.00 problems whatsoever.

Price notwithstanding, I can't think of anything that warrants complaint.

I've only used about 80-90 GBs but I still haven't felt any post-consumer regret.
