Had it for the first time this past weekend...and I'm already craving more...

...now the majority of what I had was with cooked fish and not raw (lots of crab, lobster, shrimp, crawfish and smoked salmon) but I did sample some raw entries too (even did some eel)...

...so I'm wondering what people would suggest for my next trip...what are your favorites?

*sorry if this sounds like...that guy...

Slap shot ed is a HUGE sushi guy. I dig it as well but I usually stay away from salmon.

I hear gas station sushi is really good for you.

I fell in love with sushi in Puerto Vallarta.
If you can, try for Orange infused soy. NOMNOM NOM

Sushi is something I thought I would never like. But I tried a couple years back after a friend of mine continued to bug me to at least try it. And I loved it.

Sushi? C'mon, who are you guys kidding?

Here is how I judge food.

Does it taste better than a stuffed pizza? 95% of the time the answer is no.

Can't go wrong with tuna (tekka maki). The other staple is a california roll. There are many forms of it, but it's usually crab, cucumber, and avocado. You can get spicy versions of the above to kick it up a notch (BAM!).

Once you get past those two staples, you can move on to the more exotic (read: expensive) stuff.

Just keep an open mind. I never thought I'd like unagi (eel) but it's one of my favorites now.

1. Spicy Tuna roll - Raw
2. Ebi (Shrimp)- cooked
3. Eel - usually smoked
4. Spider Maki- fried

Good places throw a combo special at you, tuna, bass, wrapped in eel, etc. fish eggs on it.

Wasabi it up, good for the sinuses.

TANK in Lincoln Square one of the best. Great price, big pieces.

TANK is really good. I always liked the hipster vibe of Sushi Wabi. Maybe it isn't so hip anymore; I haven't been there in a long time. My favorite is Katsu on Peterson near Western. Expensive, yeah, but Katsu is a true artist who makes real sushi. None of these strange creations with cream cheese and other weird ingredients like the have at places like RA, although I have to say the Vegas Roll at RA is pretty good.

This place is surprisingly good considering it's stashed in one of those grocery store/strip mall complexes. www.sushi-ai.com

Sushi Wabi closed. attributed to losing lease.

didnt mind Sushi Wabi, really high prices, a little too cool for the room type of place. No sign, no name, just tattered flag.

In my area, Kinta Sushi in Carol Stream and TL's in Bartlett are very very good.

I'm trying it finally in June this year. It's good to have a plan.

I'm a BigFan of the California Roll and Spicy Tuna rolls. Don't get it a whole lot because the lady doesn't like it.

I've been to Tsukasa a few times. It's a cool place. Met Frank Thomas there two NYE's ago.

I don't get sushi there since it's a hibachi style joint.

Great hibachi place. Sushi is pretty good there, too...got it as an appetizer when I got a combo there once.
