WWE NEWS: Punk & Lesnar to team after WM29?, Punk discusses potential pairing, Taker as leader, piledriver vs. Cena, more

Apr 4, 2013 - 5:13:53 PM

By James Caldwell, PWTorch assistant editor

C.M. Punk says WWE is discussing Punk and Brock Lesnar teaming up after WrestleMania 29.

"I’d love to. That’s actually something we’re discussing, yes," Punk told ESPN.com's Jon Robinson in an interview promoting WrestleMania. "I would honestly love to tag with Brock Lesnar. If it was up to me, I would do that and take on Kane and Daniel Bryan or Dolph (Ziggler) and Big E., whoever has the straps after WrestleMania."

As for facing each other, Punk quipped, "I think that would be horrible for him. He doesn’t want to fight me."

- Concerning Punk's WrestleMania opponent, The Undertaker, Punk said he doesn't think anyone could ever replace Taker as a locker-room leader.

"I’m not really sure anybody could fill Taker’s shoes, and I don’t think anybody is trying to, either," Punk said. "God help us all if I’m the leader, but when you look around the landscape, there’s really nobody else besides myself and John Cena. That’s about it."

- Punk also noted in the interview that he "sure did" get in trouble for using the piledriver on John Cena during their epic Raw match in February.

Regarding the piledriver, Punk said: "It has a bad history of injuries and accidents, so it’s better safe than sorry. It’s really sort of not worth it, but I wanted to show that I was really trying to win that damn match."

- Punk echoed John Cena's comment during the post-WrestleMania 29 press conference on Thursday that he's looking forward to Johnny Curtis's in-ring debut as Fandango.

Asked which Mania match besides his own that he's most-looking forward to, Punk said, "Fandango versus Chris Jericho. You probably don’t believe me, but it’s true. I can’t remember the last time somebody debuted at WrestleMania, and Fandango is actually one hell of a talent, so I’m excited to see where this goes. Besides, it’s Chris Jericho. You can’t go wrong with a Chris Jericho match."

He's gotten a tamer Goldust build.

Curtis and Jericho should have a solid match.

I think it shows the talent that Curtis posses to be able to get over with this character. The can still get rid of the shitty game show sounding entrance music.

I'm of the understanding that Curtis's previous heel persona was just fine. Are you familiar with it? I'm curious why they didn't stick with it.

I think it was a typical heel. I'm not sure it would've stood out any more than anyone else.

I'd imagine he gets the win, but probably not clean.

Dolph is winning the tag, and world title. Book it.

According to a source within WWE, the plan as of this writing is to have the Tag Team Title Match, featuring Team Hell No vs Dolph Ziggler and Big E. Langston, open WrestleMania 29 on Sunday night.

The original plan was to have the mixed tag team match open the show, but as of today, the plan changed and currently the tag title match is set to open the show.

As expected, WZ is being told The Rock vs John Cena will main event the PPV.

And he's suggesting it be shown in black and white.

Vince must have bought the unlimited usage copyright to the " hall of fame" and "i'm coming home" songs. I'm painting a room so I have the tv covered and I can't see whats happening on smackdown but good fucking christ have I heard those songs about 45 times each in just the first hour and 15 minutes.
