I think this does the opposite of make your point. Cheryl was probably a more skilled player than her brother. I'm sure should could have gone out and scored in an NBA game. But that doesn't mean she could play on an NBA team. Reggie was considered soft and a whining baby, but he's still a strong man who can bang around with the best athletes in the world for 100 games a season. I don't think any woman can do that. At least not one we've seen.

None have been given the chance either. Playing and being a star are different things.

I would think Tennis would be a much more realistic situation where women could compete because there is no physical contact. But it has yet to be done.

Hasn't really worked in Men's golf too much either.

 You're joking right? Both of those sports require physical strength in order to be successful. You CAN'T be a finesse golfer or tennis player.

Women can't compete with Men. Britney Griner has about as good of a chance to succeed in the NBA as Danica Patrick does in NASCAR.

Danica Patrick is in NASCAR and had the pole for the biggest race of the year. That's slightly successful isnt it?

I'm shocked and hugely disappointed with some of the things said in this thread. She would not stand a chance in the NBA, she would have no chance of making a roster. She's 6'8" in shoes and she played center in college. In the nba she would be guarding primarily small forwards. She doesn't have the strength or the quickness to have any chance of guarding some of the most pedestrian forwards in this league. She also has no perimeter skills. Her advantage in college is her height and athleticism, these advantages will instantly be negated. She won't be able to defend anyone, she won't be able to score on anyone. To even bring this up is embarrassing. She would be eviscerated by mediocre NBA players.

She doesn't have the speed, quickness or strength to defend NBA forwards, which is who she'll be matched up with. She won't be able to post them up because of the extreme size and strength disadvantage. Her perimeter skills are non existent and her quickness is in no way good enough to score on NBA forwards. She would be a liability at both ends.

She has no place in the NBA, there's no position for her. She doesn't have the skills nor the physical talent. Rarely have I seen something so obvious.

She wouldn't be any worse in the NBA than Danica is in the cup series. Go for it.

She absolutely would be. She would be embarrassed by superior athletes and superior players. She would be a liability on both ends and hurt her team more than help it. People encouraging this are encouraging failure.

Go to a camp and see if she can make the team.

I doubt she would, but I'm ok with letting her try.

Yes...Britney actually would be worse in the NBA than Danny is in NASCAR.

No, she really wouldn't be.

Better than Eddy Curry and the guys who play high.

I was thinking she could survive a game or two. You guys are right about a whole season.

And the point about a woman specialty long range shooter is a good one. That could happen.

Maybe she would. Ive seen Eddy Curry stand and watch guys who are 5'9 walk by him and get a rebound. I think she could do that.

Then I could play in the NBA too I guess.

So, from what I gather, most people here are against giving her a shot? Like she, or any other woman, shouldn't be given the opportunity?

I don't think she'd survive anything in the NBA, well, maybe if the her opponents "took it easy" on her because they felt bad. If they go full game speed/effort, she would be laughed out of the building, out of the state and out of the country.

If a GM wants to give her a shot, fine. But it's a total joke if she sniffs the NBA floor for a regular season game, but it's for an obvious PR stunt so whatever.

Are you against giving me a shot in an NBA game? You know I'd be embarrassed.

I'd love to see it but it would end the discussion forever. There are backup centers on below average Big Ten teams who would dominate her.

Do you want to jump into traffic for responding to me like poor Kirkwood?

What?

"Specialty Long Range Shooter?" Bryan, what in blue blazes have you been smoking? NBA 3pt line distance and she would have to actually get open.

She would really be good at making me a sandwich and ironing my shirt. I don't think any player in the NBA could do that better.

I'm not against anyone trying out for the NBA. There are plenty of people who know what it takes to make an NBA player far better than I do.

I'm just not sure why everyone is so strongly against her being given a shot. If she can't hang, she'll be gone. Just like a bunch of dudes who wash out.
