After reading his quotes I think that is clear. If that's what he wants to do I don't have a problem with it. Not letting his teammates and the organization know is wrong IMO. Just come out and say you don't feel physically and mentally ready to play.

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Derrick Rose disputed the theory he's waiting until next season to play so that he can return without a minutes limit and said he would keep open the option of returning from knee surgery even during a Bulls' playoff run.

"Oh, no," Rose said, when asked if he'd announce he's sitting out this season. "I'm keeping it open."

The Bulls have six regular-season games remaining.

"I'm not trying to think about that right now," Rose said. "I'm just trying to get better. I'm just trying to help my teammates, give them confidence to go out there and play hard. I'll play whenever I'm ready to play. Who knows when I'm ready to? Right now, all I can do is just cheer on my teammates."

Rose first scrimmaged on Feb. 18 and has said whether he returns is as much a mental hurdle as a physical one at this point. Playing on a minutes limit wouldn't bother him.

"I wouldn't mind at all," he said. "Of course I want to play more. But it's not that big. I'm going to play whenever I'm ready. I don't care if it's 15 or 40 (minutes). I just love the game too much. I'm just waiting and praying about it. And hopefully I'll be out there soon."

The likelihood of Rose sitting out the season increases with each day. Rose was asked the benefit of having another summer of rehabilitation and drill work.

"I think it is where it gives me more time to work out if I don't play," Rose said. "But I think I have enough time already knowing I haven't played in a long time. Just taking that time and getting my body together, it could definitely be big. But I'm going to come back whenever I'm ready."

Management and coach Tom Thibodeau both have said it's fine if Rose makes his debut during the playoffs.

At this point he may need a few summers to really get his body healthy. Maybe the knee was worse than we know. It did take longer for his surgery. The more he talks the more he annoys me.

This whole thing has just been handled poorly by all sides. I don't think anyone is telling the truth when they give updates. The Bulls don't want to say he's not coming back because they want to sell playoff tickets. Rose doesn't want to say he's not coming back because people will question his character. I'd just like to get an honest statement from somebody, and I don't think I will ever get one.

I forgot about the ticket angle. I guess he looks a little better if he's being a company man but nothing he's done or anything his brother has said leads me to believe that. The Bulls want him to come back now because the doctors say that's best.

That is pretty much it. I do not believe anything anyone says at this point. It is disappointing. Rose is wasting an opportunity here. He will not get these years in his prime back. I think he will soon regret not coming back when he was cleared.

The knee will get better over the off season though.

It might not get him to 100% but I think people saying he'll be starting next year exactly where he would start this year are mistaken.

He'll definitely be healthier but the mental hurdle is the thing that concerns a lot of people. They believe if he gets it out of the way now it will give him more confidence going into next season.

That's fine but physically, it will get better. There's a host on the Score that keeps insisting the rehab is completely halted until he plays an NBA game.

Me either. I went from understanding, to anger. Now it's just apathy. I don't care either way anymore. I've already reconciled what the future is for this team and I don't believe there will be any NBA Titles coming to the Bulls at any point within the next decade or more, so I don't care. I'll just continue to watch as an NBA fan and hang on to my memories of Spring 2011.

Shouldn't we all wait to hear from God before we speculate if Rose is back next year? I mean, think about it, we still have a good portion of the NFL season before the NBA starts again. God will be devoting a lot of his time to Tebow, post game prayer orgies, and the like. May not have sufficient time to cure Rose.

Think about it. It took 10 years from the breakup of the championship teams to the drafting of Derrick Rose for the Bulls to even create optimism for the future. It took another 3 years to become a semi-legitimate title contender.

For all intents and purposes, 2012 and Rose's injury was the end of this title window. Rose won't finish his career here. There will likely be another rebuilding after the Rose era ends (with no championship). Where do you see the title trajectory?
