Rockies are HOT starting 5-1. Dexter Fowler looking better than ever. Tulo doing what Tulo does (until he gets hurt)

Red Sawks killed the Yankees. That division looks like its going to be tight.

White Sox off to a good start. 4-2 after winning games against King Felix and Big Game James Shields. Viciedo will be a key in this season.

Oakland and Atlanta are both 5-1. Atlanta had the fortune of facing Carlos Marmol, but the Upton experiment is paying immediate dividends.

The Cubs are 2-4. They could be 4-2 and probably should be 3-3. This is better than expected and still majorly disappointing. Rizzo is struggling early.

Adam Jones, Bryce Harper, and Todd Frazier are killing it early

Still settling in to this season, more to come.

No, took the Rockies over 70 wins. There were like 5 bonafide ACE pitchers yesterday that all got rocked.

Oh and while posting this, Chris Davis just knocked in 2 more runs.

It is only a matter of time before you are giving us an update regarding Halladay and his torn labrum. Something is jacked up with his arm.

Today a columnist in the St. Louis Post Dispatch wrote:
Boy, I love Phillips and I love the Reds, but not like some insatiable fanatic loves them. It’s because the Cards need a proper antagonist for a fascinating summer story. Cards vs. Cubs is a sophomoric excuse to sit in the stands and guzzle beer, but it is not a real baseball rivalry, because nothing of significance ever is at stake when they meet. Something important has to be at stake to stoke rivalries. Championship hardware ought to be up for grabs, or at least part of any reasonable conversation.

Cards vs. Cubs is “Porky’s II.”

Cards vs. Reds is something rich and rewarding.

There’s a prickly history to these engagements. The true bad blood might have subsided a bit now that Cards manager Tony La Russa has retired. But the fact that the NL Central will be settled during the course of these summer-long skirmishes creates a must-see atmosphere that is too intriguing to ignore.

Hours before the game, I found Reds manager Dusty Baker leaning against the batting cage railing, looking out at the expanse of this picturesque ballpark, and he couldn’t stop grinning.

“Well, here we go again,” he said.

And he didn’t have to say anything else, because we knew exactly what he was talking about.

Cincinnati vs. St. Louis is one of those battles that demands our attention, provokes our best competitive sensibilities. Even on days like this when the Reds destroyed the Cards, the essence of why they did it speaks to the nature of this competition. In the top of the ninth inning, with the score still tied at 4-4 and Cincinnati having runners on first and second, Phillips grabbed his bat and began to climb the dugout steps. Just before he reached the top step, Baker looked at Phillips, smiled and told him something that managed to pierce the din of all the jeers.

“Well, I just told him, ‘Send them home tonight,’” Baker said.

And Phillips complied, doubling in the first run in a nine-run, six-hit barrage.

And as he arrived on second base, pumping his fist and flicking his hands in a “makin’ it rain” gesture, Phillips heard the strangest sound he’d heard all day.

It wasn’t boos.

It was silence.

Actually it was the low-pitched rumble of dispirited Cardinals fans grabbing their belongings and heading for the exits.

The Cubs have the same record as the Angels. The Angels.

Would you believe the Marlins & Twins are underway in Minneapolis right now? The Braves & Rockies have a day-night DH at Coors Field next hour...in 23 degree temperatures! You read that right. 23 in Denver!

Do the Marlins feel right at home?

Red Sox have quietly (by their standards) amassed a 14-7 record.

A far cry from when Bobby Valentine was filling out the lineup card only a year ago...

The Marlins must have taken a supersonic jet after the game to get back to Miami in time to play the Cubs last night...

That's not what I meant, Frank. The other day, the Marlins & Twins along with the Braves & Rockies played in weather better suited for football than baseball.

It was 23 degrees at game time for Game 1 of the Braves/Rockies' day-night DH in Denver the other day. You read that right. 23 degrees. Not exactly baseball weather...

I would be interested to know what the next big thing supplement players are taking these days as hamstrings are starting to blow again like in the Creatine days.
