They are the 8 seed

Where you getting 10 seed and 2.5 back?

Not sure if serious, but this was posted a month ago.

I hope Dwight calls Kobe out for being soft.

It IS March, isnt it?

What do you think would have happened if the Lakers had been successful in trading for Chris Paul?

If Kobe is able to come back and the Lakers sneak up to the 6th seed and the Clippers hold their current spot, you could potentially have an all LA series in the first round.

D'Antoni has continually proven that he's not a good coach (remember when you all wanted him to coach the Bulls?) and should be fired just for what he is doing with Gasol. All of this being said the Lakers will make the playoffs. As poorly as they've played they're still only 4 games out of the 8th spot. I wouldn't want to face this Lakers team in the playoffs. I'm going to go out on a limb and predict the Lakers will AT LEAST make it to the Western Conference Finals.

The Lakers have started to figure it out and I don't expect Kobe to be out for long. With the Spurs dealing with the Parker injury the Kobe and a focused Howard could be trouble in the first round.

Lakers could surprise their way to the WCF if they manage to avoid OKC or Denver. I haven't looked at the seedings, but Denver is a team I'd be afraid of right now in the West.

OKC is the team they want to avoid. I see Denver having the same issue as Miami when that streak ends. Even though they've been unbeatable at home the playoffs is a different animal.

It's too bad the Bulls aren't even a decent team, because if they were, and if four of their players hadn't been injured and missed that game, I wonder if the Bulls could've done better than losing by just a point to that Denver team you're afraid of right now.

*SIGH*

The 72-10 Bulls lost twice to a bad Toronto team in its first year of existence. Shit happens, KS. I didn't say the Bulls weren't competitive, but they're not good. That's obvious to anybody who watches this crap semi-regularly.

The Lakers are screwed, too old, too many injuries, too dependent on an old chucker.

Oh yeah, KS, remember last year when you scoffed at my suggestion that Kobe's All Defense selection was completely undeserved?

Quote:
1. If Bryant makes first or second-team All-Defense again this season, I’m officially ignoring this honor indefinitely when it comes to assessing a player’s status and career accomplishments. There will be no more “Player X has seven first-team All-Defense appearances” in this space as a way of justifying a man’s place in the NBA hierarchy. Bryant isn’t the first player coasting to undeserved All-Defense appearances based on reputation, but if he makes it again this season, it will be his most egregious appearance ever, and one of the most egregious in league history. It’s probably already time to start ignoring these honors, since Carlos Boozer received what I hope was an accidental vote last season, but Bryant’s selection would make it official.

Bad coach, old ass stars, injured/unskilled star, no depth = no playoffs/first round out

I think the Lakers' fate was sealed the day they chose D'Antoni over Jackson. Any coach who takes a look at a healthy Pau Gasol and says "yeah, I really don't know what to do with you," is an idiot. There's no way that coach can serve out his contract.

I agree. I'm still holding out hope that Kobe has a few more miracles in him but D'Antoni was the wrong guy for this team.

Unless a few of these teams lay down I would be surprised if the Lakers make the playoffs. The Jazz have he Timberwolves twice and the Grizzles to close out the season. That's should be easy. It's sad that even at this time of year Kobe is the only player on the team that has a sense of urgency.

He's never going to get his seven rings. Still, two as the main man and three with Shaq isn't bad.

Utah also has the tiebreaker over the Lakers. While Dan Patrick thinks the Lakers will get in, Sports Illustrated/NBC Sports Radio's Chris Mannix & Turner Sports' Charles Barkley have told DP that Kobe & crew won't make it.

David Stern and the ABC bosses will do everything in their power to get the Lakers into the playoffs.

You have a valid point. However, there's another L.A. basketball team that won't be too pleased if the Lakers get in. That's the Clippers, who have been the better L.A. basketball team all season and are Pacific Division Champions for the first time in franchise history. I don't think they'd be too thrilled if the Lakers get all the attention and talk come playoff time if they got in.

Should have thought of that before they scheduled the Jazz back to back dates with the T Wolves for games 80 and 81

I heard their bringing Tim Dongahy out of retirement to call those two games. No worries.

I don't think JR Rider is doing anything.

Except maybe 5-10 in county lockup....
