I know they had a big meeting. I know they said things will change. Nothing has changed. They still talk at each other, not to each other. Hawk still won't respond to Stone some times. Hawk refuses to engage in playful banter when Stone tries to dip his toe in the water. And you can feel that Stone is scared when he directly asks Hawk a question.

Hawk is 70 years old. 70 year old men don't change. Hawk is an old cracker that won't put up with somebody challenging him and he doesn't want to play around unless he initiates it. That's a power thing with Hawk.

I was actually was on this before it became cool to talk about it. I knew these two wouldn't get along the moment I heard they'd be partners. Pretty sure I posted it here.

Yep tension can be felt. Since many sox fans love harrelson they should go 1970s old school Brickhouse and let him fly solo. That would cure him of the pouty pissed off "not gonna talk for two innings" act. One man yapping works for scully and uecker did if forever in milwaukee on radio. Cant believe sox cant get paciorek back since hes the only one harrelsn didnt loathe.

Hawk is not gonna like anybody in the booth with him. But he has extra hate for Stone who won't play the stooge like Wimpy and DJ did. But he hated Wimpy and DJ as well.

Wimpy never bucked up to him. Sometimes DJ would and Hawk quickly put him in his place.

White Sox are not allowed to have someone pleasant and enjoyable to listen to. Fans need a paranoid bitter old fuck to get us "into the game."

By the way, I think Hawk's "play by play" in big moments is great. He doesn't get enough credit for it. He's better than Len Kasper Especially considering he's an ex ball player and not a trained broadcaster. He picked that up well. You'll never see an ex ball player be a play by play guy in this day and age. Hawk might be the only one to ever do it. I don't know for sure. Can you name another?

He just isn't good at playing well with a partner. Never has been. I heard he got a long with Drysdale but I wasn't around for those days.

Personally, I think the whole "We made up" angle is insulting to fans. A couple things, Stoney is gonna stoney. It's what he does. And Hawk, as mentioned, is way to old to change or give a fuck.
That being said, B&B had a great clip the other day. Stoney saying "A low and away curveball should get him to strike out swinging" CRACK! Hawk "And that's 2-0 bad guys"

By the way, I have no sympathy for Stone either. I think he's an ass hole. Always have. These two deserve each other. It's kind of fitting if you think about it. Two egotistical ass holes stuck with each other.

But Hawk always gets the better of Stone the way he runs things in that booth. Stone is frustrated. Hawk is laughing.

I've never thought Stone was a great color man even though that thought has been shoved down our throats by Chicago media for years. Just isn't true. Stone is dumber than people say.
