Mike (or Fred with Mike interrupting) is going to give a detailed breakdown of the previous night's game during Fred's first update each morning. This is revolutionary. Who would ever have thought of a sports program giving details about a game. I didn't think the two of them were going to get through the segment this morning, stumbling and tripping over each other. Well thought out Mike

I tuned in today. Damn me.

Yeah. There must have been a big meeting today. About great new segments. Not only the one you mentioned. But Pappy said at 6:31 he's gonna announce the Wild Card standings every day. I guess only his show has this info. I agree the papers should print it but how tough is it to look at all 3 divisions and figure it out?

Once again Pappy's taken absolutly nothing and turned it into "segments".

Let's summarize Pappy's new segments.

6:00 - Playing clips of the Cubs game from Kasper and Brenly (Or as Pappy calls it - IN DEPTH CHRONOLOGICAL COVERAGE OF DA CUBS GAME)

6:31 - Reading the Wild Card standings.

Rock, I would have loved to been in that meeting when Pappy came up with these ideas. I'll bet all of Team Pappy said "That's brilliant Pappy. You're the best."

I gotta ask, who reads the newspaper for Standings updates anymore?

Yeah it was great as a kid looking at the standings at the top ten averages, HR, RBI, etc.

Of course I will look at it if I am at lunch and the paper is there or burning a mule, but if I need info I dont go looking for a newspaper?

I agree. Most people just go online and find whatever they need.

Mike is way behind the times, and I don't think he relates much to the younger/or people who use the Internet crowd.

I don't remember the last time I bought a newspaper. I read the Chicago Tribune, SunTimes, and DailyHerald online everyday.

BTW, why do those sites allow free access to the daily papers online ? All of this talk about declining newspaper sales in the NYTimes, LaTimes, etc and yet so many of them allow you to just browse online for free. I know some people don't like the viewpoints of certain columists from some of these papers, but I think the biggest reason has to be what I just talked about, and it's hard to find any good reason for that continuing to be the case.
