According to his Twitter, Laurence signed a deal today to remain at the Score.

"@LaurenceWHolmes: Very happy to announce I just signed my deal to stay @670TheScore for a few more years. To quote Shaka Smart: 'Don't run from happiness.' "

Good for Laurence. But to compare yourself to Shaka Smart, wouldn't that mean other big time stations were fighting for his services?

I heard ESPN wanted to make him their national afternoon guy, but he turned them down.

I don't like where this is going. This is supposed to be a celebration for the future success of Laurence Holmes.

Maybe, SHARK.

But I can see Bernstein doing a solo show when Boers leaves. He might go national, in which case Mac & ????? would do afternoons and Laurence would probably get a real partner and do mid-days...

I'd hate to be the rep who has to sell Laurence Holmes hosting afternoon drive.

Laurence is better solo.

I dont see Bernstein leaving the Score. He seems very comfortable.

We both know if they were he will be sure to tell us about them.

Very true. You never know, though. Sometimes you get an offer you weren't expecting and find it hard to turn down...

Krazy, I wouldn't mind Bernsy borrowing a page from WFAN's Mike Francesa and going solo. People can knock the guy all they want, but Francesa has done very well since he & Chris "Mad Dog" Russo parted company many years ago on New York's signature sports talker.

Makes sense. Isn't Mitch Larry's agent? Or is that some board myth that has become the fact?

But you see, people knock Francesa because he's been doing a categorically awful talk show since Mad Dog left. As a listener, you should mind Dan taking a page from Francesa's book, because it's a bad book. We've always liked Dan's sporadic solo shows here (I believe Drinky once told a board member to masturbate to the podcast of one in lieu of listening to Larry co-host), but there's a big difference between flying solo for an hour after a Sox game and having a show to himself every single day. I could see where he'd go down the "Sports Pope" road Francesa has gone down, where every thought is delivered with absolute certainty and is not to be challenged by the peons who listen. I mean, shit, that's practically where we are already. There just wouldn't be Terry there to say "yep, you're right."

I don't know who is Laurence Holmes' agent. It doesn't stop Holmes from shamelessly plugging NBC5, as well as frequently mentioning weekend meteorologist Cheryl Scott by name on his nighttime SCORE.

If you remember a while back when Cheryl & noon weather babe Alicia Roman stopped by the SCORE Studios, Laurence was like a kid on Christmas morning. He was just as excited to have his fellow NBCer Rebecca Haarlow stop by 2 Prudential Plaza a couple weeks ago, too.

This is good news for the board. Ripping on Larry is one of the best things here

How does Larry get away with that NBC shit? He's on a CBS station. He must have a strong pimp hand at the Score. Maybe there's really a triumvirate of heavies at 670 (Mac, Beerstain, and Larry).

Well, The SCORE is owned by CBS. Everyone knows that. That may have also explained in large part why CBS2's Ryan Baker joined Holmes about a year or two ago to shamelessly plug the 10P news.

Since Holmes joined NBC5, originally as a contributor on "Sports Sunday" during football season, on the nights there's no White Sox game on The SCORE, the nightly chats with Baker have disappeared completely.
