Yea, she left. He then expanded so now NYC, Philly and Chicago have their own site/writers in addition to Boston. There is also one college themed as well.

Rick, they make great money off of ads and tshirts too. I think you're underestimating the reach of Barstool. It's pretty big, very popular. I agree copying the site would be simple, but getting the traffic he gets is not easy at all. And you can google to find websites that guess how much his traffic alone is worth.

Chris, how do you feel about the film iSteve?

Oh, and she gets like 10MM hits a video on YouTube. She is big now.

Lol, yes. I've read those blogs calling it ridiculously inaccurate. I can't tell if FOD is doing that intentionally or not. We'll see.

Not if you read the reddit question thing he did. They were virtually bankrupt until they did a tour and made a ton of money on it. That's the only thing that puts them in the profitable range. They obviously make money on advertising but it's not going to be enough to support themselves especially with the staff they have.

Those google site valuation websites are terrible too. If barstool sports had a future, venture capitalists would be all over it. They aren't. To put it another way, if they were making a ton of money, they would have something better than a wordpress blog setup. They'd have built a custom solution that can further leverage and become a product that a company would want to buy out and make them millions.

Not sure where you are getting that, but the tour wasn't as big then. They have an eCommerce store that does really well. They make sports-related and pop culture shirts.

Their main income is ads, fwiw.

The owner stupidly gave away a ton of secrets on the reddit Q&A thing he did.

He claims to net about $500k(likely over exaggerating).



He also made it clear that venture capitalists are not interested in his site. That's a massive warning sign that the numbers he brags about are not true especially with what happened with Bleacher Report and the money they got.

I have a feeling, he pays himself $100k, he claims to pay his writers $60k. That's good, but below standard for New York City.

I don't know enough about what he did beforehand, but he'd have to be pulling $500k+ a year on his own for the to be accurate.

Remember, those numbers were when there was one maybe two sites. There are more now. He had 7 full time employees at that time, and there are more now.

I love that Rick found out about this site yesterday, and is an expert today. Amazing!

I know a lot about the field, and he gave away pretty much all his secrets to Reddit. It's not that mindblowing.
