I'm just getting it out here early and preemptively, as I'm sure that within the first week of the season they will undoubtedly prove themselves to be a joke as they do every year. I'm just hoping they'll pull a 2007 or 2011 and tank really early so I can begin to ignore them as soon as possible. I don't appreciate that bullshit they pulled last year making me watch till September. Fuck that. I will bump this thread throughout the season as needed.

Wow.

I do agree with the "ignore or not" thing. Last year I was hoping they would be bad so I could just make my yearly couple of trips to The Cell, watch a bit at the bar with friends and not get all wound up. They turned out to be competitive and it was during the 2nd quarter of the season that I "got involved." It was great for a long while but my heart was eventually smashed to pieces.

This isn't the MLB playoffs we grew up with. Five teams make it. I see 4 teams that I see better than the Sox in Angels, Blue Jays, Tigers and Rangers.

The playoff format is DESIGNED to keep any team with a pulse in the race until at least August.

Not a fucking chance they make the playoffs. The Tigers have added Tori Hunter and have Victor Martinez back as well. The Tigers are stronger and the Whits Sox lost A.J. who was one of their only dependable left handed hitters. They will probably finish in 3rd behind Cleveland as well. There is no way this team can win a wild card either. Their only chance to make the playoffs would be to win their division and that will not happen. Expect peavy AND Sale to break down after throwing over 100 additional innings last season than they had in 2011.

It is silly. You can join the litanny of people who have said every year over the past few years that the Royals will be better, but scary? No way. That is an incredibly giving starting staff with decent middle relief and no experience at closer.
