Oh and speaking of cowardice, for the record, Chus never chased me off the board

Please don't drag me into this. Seacrest apologized, I accepted, and we moved forward. I ask everyone to please just let that whole thing die. It's old news.

You are trying way too hard at this.

I don't recall anyone saying Grienke deserved a busted collar bone. And I think someone else pointed this out to you already.

Unintended ones was the actual post I believe. And i don't think you believe that CQ would have charged the mond short of being hit or thrown at.

Like I said, you are trying to hard.

Paul Konerko quoting Framk without giving attribution.

“If you watch the games I’ve watched, he probably has had more than five pitches that have gone over his head,” Konerko said of Quentin, now with the Padres, charging Greinke after a 3-2 pitch hit him and igniting a bench-clearing brawl that resulted in Greinke suffering a broken right collarbone.

“At some point, it’s going to be the last straw and that’s what happened.”

Konerko acknowledged Quentin is susceptible to getting hit because he stands close to the plate but it seemed curious that Greinke, known as a control pitcher, would miss by so much on a full count.

Konerko also pointed out Quentin never had charged the mound after the 115 previous times he had been hit with pitches.

“You get pushed and pushed and like (Quentin) said earlier,” Konerko said. “You get hit 110 times in your career, and you’ve never charged. To me, that speaks more volumes than anything. Why do you charge on just one? Do your homework and figure it out.”

Quentin played for the Sox from 2008-11, and the Sox and Greinke have experienced heated moments, including one game during which former manager Ozzie Guillen and former catcher A.J. Pierzynski were yelling at Greinke for allegedly throwing at Sox hitters.

Greinke alone has hit nine Sox players.

So a Sox player has backed up a former teammate and questioned a former division rival's player. The same rival player has been yelled at by notable judges of character and very reasonable people Ozzie Guillen and AJ Pierzinski. A guy who was in the same division as the Sox for 7 years has hit a grand total of 9 of them.

So CQ decided enough was enough. And thats it. People charged the mound before him, people will charge the mound in the future.

I didn't know you had to be a fucking pacifist to be a baseball fan now. Whats next, you gonna douchebag Oscar DeLa Hoya for hitting people?

Right.

And him charging the mound caused an injury to another player.

Which would make him a douchebag.

I never disagreed with that. I just said Greinke is not innocent either.

The interesting thing in all of this is Quentin intentionally did not punch him or even attempt to and people are more upset than if he has just given him couple head shots.

The moral of the story: Punch Greinke next time.

The Royals used the White Sox for target practice the last two years Ozzie was in charge.

Control pitchers don't miss that many times.

Konerko was involved directly with this. If you don't want to acknowledge he has some cache on this, so be it.

The last year Ozzie was in charge Greinke was in Milwaukee. From 2004-2010, when they were in the same division, control pitcher Mark Buehrle hit 34 batters. Greinke hit 39 in that time, including the year he had so much control he hit 13 guys on the way to a 5-17 record and 5.80 ERA.

3-2 pitch. If you want to hit a guy its 3-0 or early in the count. It was a one run game. Quentin is an idiot. take your base and shut up.

I think he was going to until Greinke started mouthing off. He hit the guy. He shouldn't talk shit after he does it.

Look, this isn't 1967. Hitting batters is taboo. There's a lot more to lose when everyone is making millions. Yeah, Quentin stands on the plate. He gets hit a lot. He's never come at a pitcher who hit him before. Greinke said some shit to him. He should have just shut up.

Responding to the person quoted, it's hard to follow, I know. It's a 10 page thread, people can post what ever they want and if someone disagrees they can respond.

Great article about the incident from Thomas Boswell in the Washington Post.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/na ... ory_1.html

Here's an excerpt.

Greinke did nothing wrong. But he sure didn’t do everything right, either. Life is like that. It’s not enough to be, technically, in the right. You have to survive, too. The Dodgers must be delighted that they paid Greinke $146 million so that he could act like a macho idiot.

And btw, Greinke is now claiming he didn't say anything.
