MVC officials were on campus today checking out facilities per online reports.

Loyola and UIC would struggle mightily in the MVC but there is likely to be more money in it due to some TV contracts they have. Valpo would seem to be ok in that league - they are a pretty consistent mid major.

It's all about the $$$$, even though all 3 of those schools aren't exactly in the Missouri Valley to begin with.

I'd love to see the rivalries with Bradley and ISU. Loyola would need to significantly step up its game to be a .500 team in that conference.

I would enjoy having Valpo in the Valley that way I can see them play in Springfield.

It makes as much sense as Tulsa joining the Big East for all sports. Translation: It don't.

It's just a name...

Is the State of Indiana and Iowa part of the Missouri Valley?

I'm for it. The Horizon League has been dying for many years now. The Butler bump notwithstanding.
It would be great for UIC and Loyola...higher profile, better recruiting.

Hmmm...Maybe the Horizon League & Missouri Valley Conferences should merge.

At the same time, Butler, Creighton & Xavier in the new look Big East? That doesn't make much sense geographically either.

Creighton and Xavier are Catholic schools, which seems to be a bigger criterion than geography for the Big East.

I think this ends up being a DePaul to the Big East sort of thing for them. Still, I'll be happy to go to a couple more games with the better schedule if they hold their prices.

Why don't they all go to the WAC with Chicago State.

Absolutely no way, the fighting Ramblers were turning a corner this past season, another year or two in the Horizon and they would have had something... I think they can tread water for a season or two while they reap the recruiting benefits of being in a half-way decent conference. This is great news.

I would say Iowa is in the Missouri Valley, yes.

They lost their their top recruit and starting point guard. They were near the bottom of the Horizon league again.

The good is that MVC membership should be able to get them a radio deal and several dates on CLTV which leads to better Chicago exposure and more recruits.

I agree on the treading water part. Hopefully the upgraded facilities and higher profile conference will pay dividends. I would think Bradley and ISU will fill up the gym each year and Whichita State will be a draw as well.

They have reached the relative big time with this move although they didn't exactly earn it.

Their starting point guard sucked at Iowa and sucked at Loyola and from the looks of it, the family is a bit higher on the kids than the kids actual ability.
