Reporters see they might be getting beat as they are watching what competitors have on twitter, so they just throw their name out there and claim they have their own source saying the same thing.

They do it cuz they know it matters to their bosses. If your talking about old news while the other station has the breaking story, that's a shit load of lost viewers.

Pretty sure they were going to be branching off into an alternate universe at some point in season 2, so they wouldn't be emulating reality anymore. Also, they pretty much nailed this already with the Gabbie Giffords episode, although it would be pretty meta of Sorkin to reuse a plot from the same series.

I forgot about the Giffords episode... You're right they did already sort this out pretty well.

I dont like to hear about the alt universe... Part of the draw for me was thinking back and sort of getting back into those old memories. For better or worse.

I think it will be fine...one complaint I saw often about the first season was how it seemed so self serving that ACN stuck to their guns and got it right when so many of the other networks got it wrong...

...although now that I think about it, that complaint would be just as easily applicable in an alternate universe.

Had NPR on in the work truck today. Earlier this afternoon, they were saying that reports of a suspect/arrest were false "according to a high ranking official involved in the investigation".

And I hope CNN doesn't jump the gun on a Cowboy Bob Orton tweet.
