They called tonite's game? Strange. How can golf courses be open today and tomorrow but an MLB field not be playable?

Edit; postponed due to "cold weather conditions"
Eh. Kinda weak but I guess I can see that.

FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK. This means "losing pitcher" Gavin Fraud pitches on Sunday when I'm there. 2 games this year and twice its been the Gavin Floyd show. Godammit.

It's not just a Chicago problem. It's a problem on the East Coast & Midwest in general. It's better suited for Vikings & Bears, not Twins & White Sox tonight.

Jerry didnt want to have 600 people there buying hot chocolate instead of 17K buying beer.

Completely agree. You don't have to put the bad weather teams on the road for a month every season. But you could easily modify a better schedule. I think the players might prefer travel to playing in this garbage.

The schedule makers can't predict that this spring in the midwest would be as cold and shitty as its been. There is no perfectly solution.

Sure there is.

Schedule as many games as you can in domes and warm weather areas in April.

Boom, problem solved.

Ideally, Frank, every team in a cold weather city should be starting the season in a warm weather climate. Then again, Denver's weather isn't exactly perfect either. The Rockies lost, I think a couple of games vs. the Mets due to snow at Coors Field.

Boom, nothing solved. It would not be fair to the Cubs, Sox, Twins, or any team for them to play 25 road games in April, and then 25 home games in May.

Starting the season out that way is one thing, but we're 16 games into it now.

Makes sense, but it's kind of unfair for those teams to have to burn so many home games in April/May.

Not sure if the Des Plaines River will allow access by tonight. Good idea to cancel in my opinion.

Sure it's fair. They would probably appreciate not playing in slop for the first month of the season.

And they make it up with some big homestands in June, July, or August.

I'm not saying EVERY game should be on the road for these cold weather area teams. They can still have their opening weekend festivities, but games should definitely be limited as much as possible. It just makes sense for all teams involved.

Road teams don't want to play in shitty weather, and neither do home teams.

August 8th...The White Sox & Twins share a common off day. Might that be when tonight's cold out is rescheduled?

If JR doesn't like the cold, he should move the team to Las Vegas.

To put things in perspective:

The Cubs have a 10 game homestand in April, and so do the Sox. What schedule maker thought this was a good idea?

Let each of those teams host a couple series, and just play on the road as much as possible.

Warm teams would probably bitch. Using up home dates when kids are in school.

No one's going to Marlins or Dbacks games when the kids are out of school, either. Tough shit.

Well, the Marlins stink at baseball, even though they moved to a new baseball-only ballpark last year, while the D-Backs play in a ballpark with a retractable roof, Chase Field. Not sure why they're staying away unless it has to do with them being bad at baseball before Kirk Gibson took over as manager a couple years ago.

Denver's weather is dicey, only because they're in the higher elevations. They tend to get more snow than any other MLB city. Makes me wonder if they should consider a dome of their own.
