Sidekick is great. I've gone through a couple 6'ers already. My new favorite beer, considering I can't find Gumballhead or Zombie Dust anywhere around here.

Had the Pipeworks Unicorn vs. Ninja Double IPA over the weekend. Very nice, but at roughly 11 bucks for a 22 oz bomber, I don't think I will be purchasing it again soon. I will be trying some of their stout varieties in the next week or so--their imperial and double stouts are supposed to be fantastic. I was excited to hear that this place is going to be opening up a tap room sometime soon.

I hit the Revolution brew pub a few weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon and couldn't believe how packed the place was at around 2 PM. Of course, that was nothing compared to the line at Big Star. In any event, I sample about five of their beers and they were all fantastic. What a great place. The food looked good, too, but I did not partake.

Excellent choices.

For some reason I've had more success with the Pink Brandywines the past couple of years.

Have you ever tried growing the Sungold cherry tomatoes? They are a hybrid variety (and therefore very easy to grow along with being a prolific producer) and have a fantastic flavor. Nice to have around as an "early" crop.

When it comes to cherry tomatoes, I will buy some plants from a local greenhouse. They produce so much fruit, I only need two or three plants, even with my two and a half year old eating them like candy.

A decent greenhouse should have the Sungold starter plants. Definitely worth checking out. Kids go crazy for them--they have unbelievable sweetness. Best cherry tomato around.

I had a bomber of the Double Fist Double Pale Ale last night. This is an absolutely great beer: It has a kind of pine hoppiness to it that I just love. There's an underlying sweetness as well to keep the bitterness in check. At 8% ABV, you can get a decent buzz off of it, too.

This beer ranks close to Stone's Cali-Belgique as one of the two or three best I've tried in the past few months. The Lagunitas Little Sumpin' Ale is also a nice beer, especially if you can find it on tap.

Double Fist is too damn pricey for a bomber, given the other options out there at half the price. Hop Stoopid and Hop Henge come to mind.

I've heard a couple of commercials for a pair of new beers from MillerCoors during White Sox games on The SCORE/White Sox Radio Network. One of them is called Third Shift Amber Lager, while the other is Redd's Apple Ale. I don't know if either one is all that good.

Hop Stoppid is Lagunitas, which is available at most of the same places that carry Revolution. Hop Henge might be gone until next year. My bad for bringing it up, ha.

Really hard to beat Hop Stoopid in terms of affordably tasty DIPAs. But New Belgium's Rampant at $8.99 a six pack is a wonderful choice for hop heads looking for a fix on the cheap.

Picked up some of that last week. Had one over the weekend. Pretty good. Lagunitas Sucks at $10/sixer is the best value out there.

Had the Founders Centennial IPA over the weekend. I know the people at beer advocate love this brew, but I found it a little too bitter on the finish. That may be due to the fact that I had finished a Weiss beer just prior to having the Founders. Still, I thought it was pretty good and will try it again in the future.

Yeah, I suspect I would've enjoyed it more if I had it as my first beer of the evening. For some reason, the Weiss beer seemed to have a big effect on my palate.

I enjoy their All Day IPA much more than centennial.

Really? I had one last week and it is in my top 5 worst beers I have ever had. Tasted burnt and astringent with no body to the beer at all. I was very disappointed because I like most of Founder's beers.
