That argument sets a precedent for supporting the imposing of such a rule to an even greater degree.

I didnt participate last year. Plus it's Speeps and if history has taught us anything it's that giving Speeps too much Johnson can be a bit destructive.

Danica Patrick told, ‘shut up and race’

Danica Patrick isn't a terrible driver. She's ranked 25th right now in the Sprint Cup series, ahead of notables such as Juan Pablo Montoya and Bobby Labonte, within sight of names like Jeff Burton and Tony Stewart, and ahead of the David Cabal: Ragan, Reutimann, Gilliland and Stremme.

However, Patrick receives attention far out of proportion to her actual racing statistics, and for that reason, she tends to draw more heat (and notice) than most drivers. So when she gets to talking, other drivers aren't always willing to listen.

Case in point: Sunday's Kansas race, where Patrick finished a disappointing 25th. According to USA Today, she was not pleased with fellow twentysomething David Gilliland: "He tries to take me out every time," Patrick told her team during the race. "Tell his spotter that I'm coming after him if he does it again. In fact, I might just do it right now."

She didn't carry through on her threat to break out the chrome horn, however. Nor did she give any postrace interviews at the track. Gilliland, who finished 23rd, had a simple message for Patrick, delivered through his PR rep:

"Shut up and race."

Bobby labonte and the piece of shit he drives each week are not notable. Try again whomever wrote that story. Consistently being in the bottom 5 of all cars still running at the end of the race is no accomplishment. I think she has finished on the lead lap 2 maybe 3 times all season. That is a hell of an accomplishment right there.

Don, I think you know I was not suggesting a change to this contest this year, or any you were not interested in any year. I enjoy this format, albeit your former night shift posting of the contest was much more favorable to my schedule.

I was merely throwing out a possible wrinkle- can you imagine eliminating from choice the top N number of drivers (this next race would eliminate the top 9, for example)? By the time you hit the chase there would be only 17 drivers eligible, so that idea wouldn't work too well with a group as large as ours...

I seem to remember a year finishing first and pissing away a championship run with JJ paired with my own terrible picks in the Chase, proving that picking Johnson every week isn't a lock to win it all

You can't use JPM as a decoy forever. I don't think JPM even gives a shit this season as he is out of a ride anyways next season.

What the hell is going on here, the Cabal threatened me with losing a lot of points during the race if my driver won? It has proven that just because you get Johnson or whoever it doesn't win, just hang in and focus on your picks. Plenty of good guys to pick.
