Not going to be popular but I wonder if our own Robin Ventura isn't gonna be feeling the heat soon.
Some very poor bullpen management, plus some questionable hit and runs.
I was thinking about this yesterday during the (I think) 4th inning of the Sox game.
1-2 count to Dunn, Rios on 2. They call a hit and run? You gotta be kidding me. A hit and run with two strikes on Dunn? The inevitable outcome? Strike em out throw em out.
A hit and run called with a 1-2 count to Dunn. My god.

Also, Robin didn't sign his extension offer during the offseason, right? BIG MISTAKE.
Now he is signed thru next season I think but... at the very least he's gotta be getting less value to an extension should one be offered by Hahn.

Next on my Hot List is another Chicago manager, Dave Sveum. He still can't get these damn kids to pay attention to the game. At some point, that's coaching. Also signed thru 2014, but I never thought of him as anything more than a placekeeper for Theo's 2015 World Series Championship Team To Be Determined. Can't figure out a closer (although a thankfully quick hook on Marmol.

And to round out my top 3, Don Mattingly, doing less with more isn't a good thing.

Your thoughts?

Don Mattingly has to be on the MLB Managerial Hot Seat, in large part because the Dodgers spent a lot of $$$$ and I've heard it's "World Series or BUST" for that franchise now that Earvin "Magic" Johnson and his ownership group are now in complete control in Los Angeles.

Truth be told, the San Diego Padres are off to another miserable start, and I've got to think that Bud Black's on borrowed time filling out the lineup card at Petco Park. He might be the first to get the axe.

Charlie Manuel also is rumored to be facing the heat.

Mike Scioscia's name has also surfaced in Anaheim given the Angels' rotten start as well, but he's got a long term contract through 2018, I've read.

Yeah, Manuel is a good choice. I hear a lot of Sciosscia but that ain't gonna happen.

Even though his Twins swept both games from the White Sox, there's a school of thought that suggests that Ron Gardenhire might be in trouble up in Minnesota. BOTH New York managers, the Yankees' Joe Girardi & the Mets' Terry Collins, as well as the Mariners' Eric Wedge & the Royals' Ned Yost might also feel the heat as the season continues and if their respective teams fizzle like a warm Pepsi.

All that said, my money's on Bud Black to get the axe down in San Diego first.

That school of thought is wrong. Gardenhire is the new Tom Kelly. That fucking team could lose 120 games and they'd give him an extension.

SJ, I talked to my dad about Gardenhire yesterday. If he were filling out a lineup card anywhere other than Minnesota, he'd be on the hot seat. Book it.

Got to wake up pretty damn early to get out in from of Hawger. :D

Why don't you think Sciosscia, that dude has spent a lot of money out there and I can't see him having much patience?

I agree with that. But the folks running the show in Minnesota do things a little backwards. It's almost like they're from Arkansas. Thusly, Gardy isn't on the hot seat. It's sort of like how old man Ford wouldn't fire Matt Millen because ol' Matty would go watch movies with him on Friday nights.

Well, the Twins made some head scratching moves after they were really good in the first 2 years of Target Field.

Consdering that 4 of his starting 9 hitters are on the DL, Girardi's exceeding expectations so far this season:

http://www.theonion.com/articles/yankee ... ked,32100/

don't think 1 bad season this soon after a WS win would be enough to send Girardi packing.

Especially when the pickings are thin for replacements.

Could see the Cubs poaching Girardi from NY at some point.

Who's managing the mess up in Toronto? Didn't they bring in a few of the Marlins who played for the team that got Ozzie fired?
The Curse of Mark Buehrle and Josh Johnson.

Actually, the beer was quite the proper temperature. Tried some Sprecher Special Amber at the craft beer stand. Pretty good stuff.

It is a pretty cool ballpark and hell for you, you can get there a lot faster than any ballpark down there.

When it's clear (ie no construction and weekend drive times) It is the same time-wise to The Cell. Wrigley is a gigantic pain in the ass to get to, which is fine because I don't like the ballpark anyway.

And Miller Park is a fantastic place to see a game no matter where you sit.

John Gibbons is currently filling out the lineup in Toronto, eh? As for Joe Girardi & the Cubs, although it makes a lot of sense considering the fact Girardi was a Cub catcher himself at one time, I think we've been through this once before.

The Cubs had another former Yankee filling out their lineup only a few years ago and paid him a lot of $$$$. Needless to say, it aged Lou Piniella about 10 years...

I just think he's got the local people in his pocket, like Gard in Minn.

That team made some moves and was supposed at least make a little noise out west. They've come out pretty flat so far.

Yeah, it's called Not Gonna Happen University.

Scioscia probably holds more power with Angels brass than his GMs do. He's been there through at least Stoneman, Reagins, and now whoever's running them. He'll leave on his own terms.
