I've read he's ineligible for the playoffs. Or are you talking next year. Or are you making a funny?

I was talking this year.

So its too late to make a roster move?

Rasheed Wallace just announced his re-retirement.

Why wouldn't he hang around for the playoffs?

He could at least sit on the bench and wave a towel. Maybe even spray some champagne....

Did he get waived?

I read yesterday that the Cavs have reached out to Phil Jackson about him becoming head coach in Cleveland.

I'm sure that's at the top of his list, right after the Milwaukee gig.

yeah that is pretty ridiculous
i do think Cleveland at least has a better outlook for the future, Irving will be a superstar soon if he isn't already and they have some other good young talent
milwaukee is just in NBA hell

Or not.

I'd love to see Lebron in Cleveland with Irving. That'll coincide perfectly with Rose going to Miami to play with Wade.

Mike Brown

Guys, would you believe the Cavaliers are supposedly interested in Mike Brown for a second time as head coach? I thought that ship sailed 3 years ago right before LeBron James took his game to South Beach.

As for Mike Dunlap out in Charlotte after 1 season, am I surprised? No.

He's now one of the many NBA analysts at ESPN, but got a raw deal from the Minnesota Timberwolves before he was let go about 2 seasons ago. Does Kurt Rambis get another bite of the NBA coaching apple? Anyone, anyone?

Patrick Ewing was supposedly in the running for the Bobcats' job before they selected Mike Dunlap instead...from the college ranks. St. John's to be exact.

No

I bet he does. Ditto for Flip Saunders.

SHARK, why do you think Kurt Rambis got a raw deal from Minnesota? Your opinion.

Actually, a correction is in order from me. Even though Rambis was just 32-132 in 2 seasons as the T-Wolves' HC, that franchise took its own sweet time before they fired him during the summer of 2011. Minnesota management supposedly let Rambis twist for some 3 months while other coaches took other jobs around the league.

That being said, I don't know if either Rambis or Saunders would be willing to leave ESPN for another chance to head coach an NBA team. I know for sure Rick Carlisle, currently the Mavericks' HC, was an ESPN analyst before he took over in Dallas a couple years ago.

Bagels, it was a bad choice of words on my part. The Timberwolves still took their own sweet time before they fired Rambis in the summer of 2011. They did the same thing to another former HC of theirs, Kevin McHale, now the HC in Houston.

Thanks for clarifying. So basically you believe he got a raw deal because they delayed his firing.

I understand your thought process there, but the problem is with a 32 and 132 record, Rambis was likely not being considered for any other head coaching positions anyway, so the delay in firing him is irrelevant. It's not as though their delay prevented Rambis from getting another job.

From a business standpoint, if the Timberwolves wanted to fire Kurt Rambis, they could've done so right after the NBA season...2 seasons ago. The Timberwolves came under a lot of national criticism because despite Rambis' awful record in 2 seasons in Minnesota, management there dragged their feet for about 3 months prior to Kurt's firing during the summer of 2011. I wonder if the same fate awaits current Minnesota HC Rick Adelman in due time.

Adelman actually deserves more of a chance. Rambis was a complete fuck up and idiot and tried implementing the wrong scheme for the team....Adelman has had to deal with Rubio and Love playing like 15% of the time
They showed with a healthy team they could have at least cracked the playoffs as an 8 seed and they only would have improved
