Nah. Not happy with the pick.

Although it does seem odd to me that people seem to be more upset this year than last year. At least this year they drafted an offensive lineman. They still do need help there.

But I would have rather had Eifert or a LB

HE DRAFTED ANOTHER PROJECT !!!!! Sorry for the caps but for fucks sake, the Bears are not in any position to take these fucking reaches. 2 FUCKING YEARS IN A ROW. Emery seems starry eyed over combine numbers. It is almost impossible to comprehend. Another Angelo in the making.

You''ll drive over your mother for Angelo's success in three years.

Think about his picks, McClellin, Hardin, Rodriguez, Long...all workout warriors. The one who wasn't (Jeffrey) is the only one who has shown anything.

On the upside...Long spent one of his years of collegiate football playing defensive end....and he is a southpaw with a 90 mph fastball.

He's going to be 25 this year. I mean, you keep digging and you keep hitting layers of stupidity.

So, Ogletree has red flags because of what he did at Georgia but this guy was enough trouble to get kicked out of one of the more permissive campus' in the country and is fine to be drafted above slot

Don't worry. Emery has 4 more picks to get some immediate impact players.

I don't think they know what position they drafted him to play. But they'll stick him at LG so he can transition to LT more easily in 3 years. But, you're right, he's played every position a couple times.

Eifert would have been solid. But I'd have taken Te'o or whatever QB they like over this.

This is just another attempt by them to half-ass a position (LT) that you can't half-ass. They figured out you can't stick a flaky 7th round project there. They'll find out a flaky 1st round project won't work either. He may end up a serviceable G but those guys can be had in FA or middle rounds, not at 20.

So let me get this straight

You don't take DeCastro when he falls to you last year because it was too early to take a OG but you run to the podium to overdraft a guy who is going to be a OG for at least a few years.

Ponderous man, fucking ponderous.

Here is some non hindsight for you:

I'd take DeCasto and Datone Jones over McClellin and Long.

Do you really want a 6'7 guard?? I thought the general consensus was to be 6'3-4 not 6'7 for leverage purposes.

3"-4" more "synergy".

I never thought about this either....Won't Jay have a blind spot over the middle where his helmet is? The tackles aren't in the way but you would think it has to be annoying to have 6'7 standing in front of you all the time.

Also helps so your QB can see downfield and doesn't doink his OL in the back of the helmet with the football.

Everybody was taking OL and defense. You had every RB and all QB's except the goofy Bills pick still on the board. If you weren't going to trade down, take a backup for the injury prone Culter or a RB like Lacy or Franklin. You had literally pick of the litter for running backs and all the best options for QB still available.

After several OL picks before them, I thought that all but ruled out OL for the Bears at 20. There couldn't be much left. I'm with you all who said this was way too early.

Does this mean Emery is not creative enough? If you want OL at 20 and your OL board crumbles between picks 1-19, don't you then figure a way out of 20 instead of overdrafting? Picks are too precious to be wasted, to state the obvious.

Belichick probably left a phony video of the Patriots front-office breaking down the draft and deciding to take Kyle Long in the 1st round in the VCR of the Bears draft day conference room.

Terrible pick. Datone Jones probably sucks too. Bad first round.

This pick screams of panic in the war room. If they got him in round 2, our opinion might be different, but I would guess they were trying to trade down and couldn't find a dance partner so they did take their top graded player in Long....but were hoping it was in round 2 (god, am I giving Emery credit here?)

I'm here for my annual rectal-crowbar-lodging.

Long is an...he's a guy. I like his attitude, from what little I've seen. He's got good size and Emery's favorite "intangibles." He's absolutely not good value for the pick, but what the hell were the Bears gonna do with Eifert? I would've loved to add more weapons for Cutler to throw to, but I understand the concern of having your guard situation depend on James Brown and Gabe Carimi.

I dunno. This whole fucking draft is weird.

Also I know what I'm talking about: I did twice as many mock drafts as I did last year, so I'm even smarter about the draft now. Or something. I don't know.

On the bright side, he's already 24, so bears will control him during his athletic peak.

This will not be an issue once 6'7" Mike Glennon is picked today.
