AKA Lil Reese was identified by Police as the man (scum is more like it) that beat a woman in Champaign in February 2012. The woman had returned home from a night out on February 19, 2012 to find 20-25 people in her apartment. After asking the people to leave, Taylor initially pushed and slapped her. But when she did not back off and insisted they leave, he punched her repeatedly until she fell to the gound. At that point he kicked and stomped her while on the ground, until other people at the gathering intervened. After a video of the beating was initially posted on Twitter, the 20 year old Taylor dismissed it as something that happened years ago, then deleted the tweets after realizing that it was an admission that he was the one in the video. He was transferred to Champaign after not being able to raise the $100,000 dollar bail (10%=$10,000 would be the actual amount) needed for release quickly enough. The punk had to hit the woman several times to knock her down, then kicks and stomps her while on the ground....scum. The other people at the scene should have kicked his ass for what he did, rather than just stopping it.

if you are talking about Anthony Abbate who battered the bartender, i was clear in the threads back when it happened that he should have served jail time. There is no excuse for what he did either. He had probably 6 inches and 80-100 pounds on that girl. I'm glad he was suspended and fired but he should have gotten jail time too. There is little worse for anyone in Law Enforcement than when a fellow officer does something like he did, because of the effect it has on the public's perception of all Police Officers.

Then you heard wrong. He was suspended shortly after the incident (lets be honest-after the video surfaced) and placed on suspension until his hearing at which time he was fired. He was subsequently convicted of the criminal charges, but did not get jail time in a highly questionable ruling.

I think cops (and ex cops) who act and talk like you do is far, far worse for the public perception of law enforcement. I'm not saying that Abbate guy was in the right by any means, but I think he just did what he did because he was a hot head. I don't think being a cop had much to do with it at all. Being an asshole did.

How you acted and things you did (or at least said you did), was solely because you had a badge and were in power...simply because at the time, you could act like that.

Its people like you that really give cops a bad name, Steve.

Look, I know you are just baiting me here and it's stupid. I didn't abuse my power. I didn't go confiscating drugs only to sell them as guys in Schaumburg did recently. Nor did I beat up some lady bartender as Abbate did. Did I sometimes write tickets I could have refrained from writing to people I didn't care for? Sure, but they were legitimate tickets. If a tire has insufficient tred, it is in danger of a blowout or causing a car to lose control in bad weather. To equate writing tickets that I could have refrained from writing to officers committing crimes is beyond ridiculous.

I would say honestly maybe 5% or less. When I stopped kids smoking pot and made a decision not to arrest them, but take them back to the station and call their parents to come get them and let them know it was their only 2nd chance with this kind of violation, I took the pot they had and dumped it onto the ground outdoors and stepped all over it, so they would never think I might be taking it home/selling it/etc. Even the possibility of impropriety should be removed. The last part of your post is hard to address. Guys you might think were dickheads, others might consider just strict where enforcement of the law is concerned.

Scum....yes. Punk, probably not only because that would be a term generally used for a younger offender. That he should have his ass kicked....yes, I was rooting for him to go to prison and be housed in general population.
