I agree with a lot of what Hub says. I can't stand Cutler and he's not crazy about him either. He was of the opinion they shouldn't have given Forte a long term deal, but slapped the franchise on him, if they couldn't make a good deal. He says they reached for long at #20 and I agree. They guy has opinions and can back them up. I think he does a good job. You may not agre with him, but he does his job well.

LOL

Heh, heh. Listen, guys, drafting is not an exact science. It never is. Some try to analyze it to death and there is merit in that, don't get me wrong, but really, these teams, and they all know this, know it's a crap shoot sometimes. Is there such a thing as a sure can't miss prospect? Sure, there is. But again, not always. Phil Emery took a chance on this Kyle Long kid. I do like him as an athlete. He has tremendous potential. But was it really worth a first round pick? Again, I don't know. No one does. But sometimes you do. And this could be one of those times. But really, who does? Well, maybe Dick Jauron. Heh, heh.

There was a time that I had respect for the Arkush clan, some 20 years ago when the Bears report was a viable source of attention for those beyond TV broadcast reception range. Hub was dubbed "company man" by McNeil & Boers, a mantle he wore well. Epitomized by his days co-hosting the Dick Jauron show.

Last Friday and Saturday I went through SB Nation reading the impressions of about 20 teams and their respective drafts. Guess what? Nobody likes who gets drafted unless its one of the first two picks. The deeper into the draft the less the choices are liked.

To give my first (and probably only) compliment of the year towards Larry Holmes, I liked the lack of transition and the business/adult-like manner in which he opened his show. It gave him an air of credibility sorely lacking from his comic-geek persona.

Next to "experts" who yell their opinions, I don't like the smug know-it-alls with their defective short term memory. While I don't believe that Phil Emery will strike gold with every pick, I give him credit and high marks for looking to address the obvious weaknesses of the team, and doing so with the quick fix (FA) and long term approach (draft). Last year's #1 fits the prototypical mold for a speed pass rusher, that he didn't start was due to having an all-pro at one position and a projected #1 (before injury) coming into his own. This year's pick Long, is behind an all-pro at one Tackle and should eventually push out the competition at the other Tackle. Last year's #2 made an impact and physically mirrors the free agent, and this year's #2 should push out the free agent signed at MLB.

Hub's value has diminished with over the past few years as the Internet has evened the field for gaining information.
