I think Deng & Gibson will give it a go, despite the flu.

Flu-like symptoms are bad, but it's not as bad as the other injuries. You don't have to get an MRI if you have the flu.

The point I was trying to make is that Harden played great last night for Houston in Oklahoma City when he wasn't feeling well. A certain former Bull we all remember was sick as a dog in the 1998 NBA Finals vs. Utah. A certain someone named M.J. who wore #23...You know the one.

My point was just that as a basketball player the flu doesn't necessarily hinder you as much as a more serious injury like a sprained ankle, bruised calf or any other injury that would affect the ability to run and jump. The Jordan game was remarkable, but he's not playing like that with a more serious injury.

Does Mikhail Prokhorov regret extending Nets' GM Billy King's contract? This team will either be eliminated by, or barely beat, a severely depleted Bulls team that has no business being as close to the second round as they are.

The Nets' core is comprised of a bunch of veteran guys, except for the young-ish Lopez, who aren't going to win anything despite being in win-now mode. It's going to be tough to add anyone of value considering they have the league's highest paid player, plus a highly paid role player in Gerald Wallace who is only going to get worse. It's difficult to see any light at the end of the tunnel for these Nets, and I wonder if it will cost King his job sooner rather than later.

Taking on Joe Johnson's contract alone is worthy of firing.

I think he followed a similar path in Philly, when he kept surrounding Iverson with nearly maxed out veteran players who were well past their respective primes. It seemed they were always capped out and too mediocre to win anything in the East.

Why didn't they score Belinelli's shot before halftime as a 3??? I watched it 3 times and he was clearly behind the line :?

Edit: they corrected it.

He made the Nets just good enough and just big-name enough to make a splash in Brooklyn after two years of intentionally destroying themselves in Newark, without any mind toward a long-term trajectory of contention. The Nets are just a hodgepodge of talent with no core and no high-upside prospects. It's a bad look.

Hmm yes, I had forgotten about the preparation for Brooklyn, and that Williams was a consolation prize after they couldn't get Howard. I was also wondering if you all see as many similarities as I do between the Nets and Bulls:

1) Both teams are built around star PGs, although Rose is better and a bit younger
2) Both teams feature overpaid, glorified role players in Joe Johnson and Carlos Boozer, both of whom cripple each team's cap flexibility and have zero trade value
3) Both teams feature decent talent at center in Lopez and Noah, and these players are also each team's most attractive trade asset
4) Finally, both teams have team-first, hustle small forwards with obvious offensive limitations

Thibs is the better coach, but I think the Nets have shown more aggressiveness/imagination on the trade market, although when that means acquiring Joe Johnson, it's clear that aggressiveness when undisciplined can be a liability.

David Stern at the game. Dude has to really want the Nets to make it to the next round.

Good points. A fifth similarity is that both organizations seem to have inordinate public capital to make bad decisions. We need to have faith in Guy Who Made A Three-Pointer and Billionaire Who "Won Seven Championships," just as Brooklyn must have unwavering trust in Pretend Owner Jay-Z and Actual Owner Russian Petrogangster.

The Bulls made it close even though there was a huge free throw discrepancy because the Nets missed a lot of free throws. At the end of the game they had no Boozer, no Gibson, no Deng, no Hinrich, no Rose and they still almost pulled it out. I would say too many fouls and turnovers cost them the game.

FYI, I think you meant Bulls +20. I believe -20 would mean that you subtract 20 points from the Bulls score at the end of the game.

I can't believe last night's game was that close. This team is completely decimated, and the Nets still barely held on. Even the healthy guys for the Bulls played poorly. I don't think Bulls can take this series though. Last night was there chance, and they just didn't have enough. I think they missed every big shot in the 4th quarter.

Palming my face right now.

And Miami won't lose a game till until the Knicks upset them in the ECF.
