Im still not convinced LeBron is a guy I want on the floor at the end of games if Im choosing Top 5 all time. Michael, Magic, Kobe , Hakeem, Kareem off the top of my head would be on the floor before he would.

Ok I am all for the greatness of Lebron but why the Kobe hate? Is it just because he was trapped between Jordan era and Kobe era? No matter what Bernsie says a one on one Kobe-Lebron Pay per view I'd watch.

I'm intrigued by LBJ vs Kobe or MJ in theory, but in reality I think LBJ simply overpowers both of them. In a physical sense, I'm not sure which player would be a good match.

Hakeem would be one of my top 10 players, or right outside it, but James has clearly surpassed him. His career has become even more historic.

Uh, not he wouldn't be. Mr. Guard 5 positions cannot be guarded by anyone, including Hakeem. That's a joke to even suggest that.

Seriously, I know some of you still don't like James for whatever reason, and that's fine but to suggest that Hakeem would just dominate him is idiotic and wrong. First, they wouldn't even be guarding each other. Hakeem was a quick defender for a guy his size but he wouldn't have been able to handle Lebron James.

What would a top 5 defensive list look like?

It would be mostly big men. Lebron is unbelievable but in this day and age perimeter defenders aren't even allowed to be that physical with their defender. Russell would obviously be at the top.

One last thought about one of my all time faves.... Are you sure that Kareem couldn't just sort of dribble around keep him at a distance and sky hook his ass to death? At times I thought he could do this to Jordan as well. Kareem was the shit.

Why didn't players overpower Jordan when he was playing? He was not the biggest or strongest player on the floor until very late in his career.

Also, let me point out, that Jordan likely would be bigger and stronger too if he needed to be.

2006 Kobe is beating any version of LeBron we have seen 1 on 1. I don't think either would've beaten Jordan 1 on 1 in his prime. Leash is right, 1v1 plays away from LeBron's strengths.

If we really want to base the best ever off someone who could physically dominate a game, then Shaq is a clear #1 in the television era and Wilt is probably #1 all time.

Not to mention that James is doing this all with two other players who will easily make the hall of fame.

This is almost one of those cases where if you didn't vote for LeBron for MVP you should have your vote taken away. Shows a complete lack of either objectivity or ability to understand the game of basketball. And I dislike LeBron as much as anyone on the board probably.

You're right about Jordan, as long we mean Jordan vs other SGs. LBJ is a SF in the body of a PF with the quickness and agility of a top-flight PG. Others have pointed out that one on one isn't necessarily LBJ's first weapon of choice, and I agree. All I am trying to say here is that, body vs body, LBJ is taller than MJ, and probably stronger too, and that may play a role in any type of matchup, whether it's within a conventional game or one on one.
