Maybe not forever, but it just cost her her first major gig.

She was working at Showtime before this. Like Hussra said, she'll probably fall up to a job back in New York (about which, as you may remember, Dan engaged her in a long tangent of New York Envy). Hockey never seemed to be her strong suit, anyway. It wasn't Kustok's either, come to think of it. Why is this so hard? You could drive through Naperville and/or Lincoln Park and find twenty aspiring sportsbunnies who majored in broadcast journalism at a Big Ten school and like hockey. And I'm sure that's what the CSN general manager will do. And he'll probably fuck ten of them.

There is a rumor going around that Collins was using the same broadcaster-player relationship strategy as Jen Jen. Just sayin'...

I don't really think the raunchiness is what did her in. It was the minstrel show accents and the Korean and J-ew jokes.

Kaplan really pops in HD. I don't mean that in a good way.

Kaplan was tolerable when he was just the guy who did the whitebread sports show with Tom Waddle when the Cubs didn't play. Now that he's the hairless King Of All Chicago Sports Media, he can please kindly go away forever.

So it's come out that this was a Rocky Wirtz firing. It must be in the genes in that family.

He has to please his advertisers and business partners. I don't disagree with him doing it at all. He is concerned about the Blackhawk brand / image, which is what any good business person does.

I'd be willing to bet she has a better job, outside of Chicago, by Tuesday.

They were actually a really good pair. I say they had a Cartman/Butters relationship. Kap (Cartman) was the egotistical, smartass d-bag, while TWad (Butters) was the Vanilla, PC, Middle of the road sidekick.

Why? What has he done? I do not understand the hate. He is bald. Makes a lot of money. Has a great job. Why all the dislike?

Because he's such a sneering company man that he makes Dan Bernstein look like a populist.

Though, again, I will say that when the bottom dropped out from the Cubs in 2006, he went hard against MacPhail to the point that I thought for all the world that WGN would launch him. As it happened, they fired MacPhail and Dusty Baker that year, while Kaplan became even further entrenched.

What would have been the ramifications to the Blackhawks if she wasn't fired? As others have said, Patrick Kane showing up on deadspin is far worse for the "brand" than youtube videos that wouldn't even be a story today if not for the firing.

How about the guy that hired her in spite of the fact that the Sport Nutz videos were easy to find and SHE HAD THEM LISTED ON HER RESUME? Shouldn't he be fired?

Local comcast is a shit job. It is a step above that CLTV, exce;pt you have to get the guy who runs it, Joe Corn???? a hard on! He hires a unique female look. Not all bad, but it is quite obvious his preference in women is clear in the staff he has hired.

I *assume* he was worried about losing existing business partnerships or future negotiations regarding business partnerships in terms of advertising. Possibly one of these partners contacted Wirtz directly. Otherwise, there would be no other ramifications I can foresee. The Patrick Kane thing is different as he is a key player on the team vs. Collins who is an expendable resource who is going on-air saying "The [sponsored company] shoot-out". I can't argue both have impacts on the brand, but removing Kane is obviously infinitely harder than removing Collins.

One additional thing, if this came directly from Wirtz, given how many other things he needs to be focused on (i.e., distribution company), someone important had to have complained to him directly. Otherwise, you have someone like Blunk, Faber, McDonough, etc., do it, right? Why would this come from Wirtz unless it was escalated to him?

When will the Hawks announce an end to the Ice Crew?

What is the Hawks brand/image? As far as I know, it's a bunch of suburban drunks who don't understand the game of hockey, singing "Chelsea Dagger" whenever a goal is scored.

The broadcasts are key to their branding strategy. The shoot the puck contest has become their seventh inning stretch. That segment is likely crucial for their PR. Its says, "the Blackhawks are a celebrity destination. Look at the entertainment value! Advertise with us because people will be watching during the twenty minute intermission so that they can see Danica Patrick shoot a puck for charity!" Now, once the face of that segment has this slipup and her past becomes visible, it could have a negative impact nationally for the team's image. So you fire her and get the small amount of anger that crossed message boards and social media for three days. In a week or two, very few people will even remember who she is. Of course, you could take the risky move that it would be good to have more attention on her nationally, but if it wasn't so risky, I'm sure McDonough would taken advantage of it.

While Chris Boden has inherited Susannah Collins' role the rest of this season on Comcast SportsNet, if you saw the "Shoot the Puck" segment during the 2nd intermission of Game 2 of Wild/Blackhawks, guess what? The person who received the loudest cheers...Not the star of "Chicago Fire". It was a hottie in jeans, boots & a tight top!
