The Heat is 40-1 against other teams and 1-2 against the Bulls in their last 43 games. Here's the Game 1 stunner: http://trib.in/17IWAod

The Bulls have done well in the draft (not counting Tyrus Thomas of course) and let's hope it continues. They clearly look for guys who are good on the defensive end, are gym rats and have character.

Nice to see a magt team that knows what the hell they are doing for once.

Ok, I lied. I'll also add that he miraculously only committed 3 fouls. Played 48 minutes against two all-time greats, and committed 3 fouls.

whoa.... what the fuck happened? i didn't even bother watching tonight, but i saw people on irc hearken the sports-stat-bot and the bulls were down ~4 in the third..... now they won this thing by 7?

i've been reading about NBA rigging/fixing/etc and, essentially, the phenomenon i always referred to as "star calls" (growing up with mj, you know, a superstar is always gonna get ticky-tack fouls called on his defenders to get him to line and keep the point totals inflated so they live up to the marketing) are now spread out more uniformly to ensure there's wonderful parity and long dramatic series and basically, you know, if you red-pill it and are willing to go the tinfoil style in terms of headwear then yeah, the NBA definitely has a vested interest in playoff series being milked to ensure they go beyond 5 games, so i'm thinking if the NBA ref$ had a hand in this BUT TO WHAT END..... yeah, with the depleted bulls winning game 1 all of a sudden a lot more people are gonna take this series seriously, especially on teh national media level.... and it'll even cause the drums to beat for derrick rose even louder (if the bulls somehow won game 2 then it'd be like COME BACK AND HELP US YOU SHIT WE'LL USE #THERETURN ON TWITTER... PROMISE!) and yeah.

enough conspiracy shit tho, cuz like, wow.... the NBA got what it wanted for this series (surprise surprise) in that by some sort of milagro the bulls are now going to be taken seriously..... all the way to an inevitable 5-6 game defeat. if the bulls get up 2-0 or 2-1 the rest of the series is must see tv. just like this spurs game going into its second OT.

TL;DR = yeah, i'm flabbergasted.... i didn't think this is possible, but hey, this is the BIG nba, you know, WHERE AMAZING HAPPENS. someone get fergie to sing the playoffs song plz LET'S GET IT STARTED/RETARDED IN HERE

Butler and Gibson have been real nice late round finds. Deng, Hinrich, Noah, and Gordon have also been nice for where they were drafted. But I would also caution against revisionism when it comes to grading Paxson. Remember, this is the same fool who fell in love with a core of Deng, Hinrich, Gordon, and Chandler - as if they had a chance of winning anything. There were also rumors that he refused to part with a guy like Deng in a trade for the proverbial superstar, although I'm not sure how close they got to acquiring one. Then, when that team needed scoring, he went out and gave a four year dumbass contract to Ben Freaking Wallace, a guy who did everything BUT score. Wallace was essentially a shorter, older version of Tyson Chander, who they already had on the roster. They then traded the 23 year old Chandler for PJ Brown and JR Smith.

In 2011, when the Bulls needed scoring (notice a trend yet?), particularly someone who could create off the dribble (sort of what like N. Robinson is doing) Pax went out and signed a 34 year old SG who doesn't have a dribble drive game, which is the problem a new SG was supposed to solve. Yeah, that problem hasn't been resolved yet, and it's two years later. And Hamilton? Dude hasn't done jack for this team since he got here, and he's been a healthy scratch for over a month now. That dead weight is on Paxson, and so is the Bulls' lack of creators outside of Rose and N. Robinson, who was only brought in as an after thought.

So, Pax does deserve credit for guys like Deng, Butler, Gibson, and Noah. But he also deserves criticism for falling in love with those guys to the point where he becomes unobjective about their value, as well as letting Asik walk away for nothing. On top of that, he needs to be held accountable for the bizarre signings of Wallace and Hamilton, both of whom were obvious misfits for what the Bulls needed at the time they were signed, and both of whom eventually became dead weight.

i wonder if the league would help bury the heat in a 2-0 defecit to make this series REALLY REALLY dramatic and add to the legend and lore of one Le Bron J. Ames, esq. cuz the league is always looking to toss the bulls a bone as thanks for the 90s and for keeping it real with attendance/popularity after the jordan era..... getting ~17k/night during the tim floyd era wasn't easy, so the bulls are a darling franchise in large part thanks to their international marketing footprint left via the jordan machine.

but yeah, i was gonna just tack on that there's no way in hell the bulls are getting up 2-0..... but like, it's obvious to me that #THERETURN is scripted that's why derrick was very subtle in being latently cryptic in saying "only god knows" when he comes back.... cuz seriously THE SCRIPT IS WRITTEN that there is no hope, nobody has any idea if/when derrick will come back and like, if the NBA wants to build his legend and has some sway in how these games play out, obviously it's no accident that #THERETURN commercials ran a shit-ton during the early season and this #THERETURN thing has been purposely milked for so long.... i mean, it's all sports entertainment if you stop and REALLY think about it, so i'm thinking that there's a solid chance that derrick DOES come back at some point, and now with the thudner missing westbrook and kobe out and the bulls improbably missing LOLDENG (who has some super-illness that's requiring spinal taps and stuff) yet still winning game 1, jeez, i wonder if derrick could come back at some point and lead these bulls to a championship, burying all of the local hate and helping to build his brand, which already works with the sizeable international footprint that was created during the jordan epoch.

hrmmmmm chicanery is definitely afoot, and i know there's no place for godfather-logo-style-puppeteering going on here, but like.... i've always thought something smelled funny about #THERETURN so now with the bulls without LOLDENG who could be out for years, and joakim noah playing on one foot, and derrick saying "only god knows" when he'll return.... shit, if lebron has another one of those 2011 finals game 4 type games where he's absolutely throwing the game, then i'll be 100% convinced that the bulls are supposed to win this title during a year where no less than 2 huge names are injured and like, yeah, shit, the NBA <3s the bulls and has a vested interest in making derrick rose a household name as the heir/air-apparent to jordan, so like, i'll just grab my popcorn and watch "the business" and be sure to bitch about the booking if/when derrick doesn't come back and the bulls lose.... cuz holy shit nobody seriously thinks they have a chance, but agian, this is the NBA.... WHERE AMAZING HAPPENS!

and this is chicago where like 75% of sports fans have a mantra of "it's gonna happen!" thanks to the baseball team, so like, SHOMER SHABBOS!!! * pounds table *

/me goes off and has an existential crisis daring to ask the question "why do i post?"

yeah straightup #realtalk here hamilton is a bitch. i knew he was old and had significant mileage, but i didn't know that all of his belts were shot and he was gonna crap out 10 miles away from teh dealership on the first ride. i thought he'd be able to provide at least ~15-20 mins and stick a set midrange jumper, but hey, that's asking a lot in this day and age.

again, let's see what booking has got in mind for #THERETURN.... it's quite possible that since derrick was on the cover of NBA 2K13 and there were sooooo many #THERETURN commercials early this year that this season is shaping up to have the bulls be a centrifugal force to be reckoned with.... cuz with or without derrick if they can beat the heat, i think it's fair to say that they can beat anyone, and i mean who scares you out of the west? the spurs would merc 'em, but otherwise......?

interesting times, interesting times. san antonio finally pulling away in 2OT. poor warriors.... getting rid of the spurs = part of the master plan to get the bulls a title.

That was me. I was wrong. He's an upgrade from CJ Watson or Lucas III. Someone here said he'd end up being a fan favorite. They were spot on. The little shit has a ton of heart. If he leads this team to an upset win against Miami, he will be a legend we all talk about when we are old as we recall that magical 12-13 Bulls season. Even if the Bulls lose to the Knicks or Pacers in the Conference Finals.

I watched most of the 2nd half of that game. Quite enjoyable. Its inexplicable how the Bulls are able to keep winning. It would be like the Sox putting 8 guys on the field tonite against the Mets and still winning. Its pretty incredible. If they can somehow beat the Heat in this series it would have to go as one of the greatest upsets in NBAplayoff history wouldn't it?

Question: How is LeBron not guarding Robinson in the fourth quarter? Has Spoelstra done his homework on the Bulls - Nets series? Robinson is the Bulls only one on one option in pressure situations, and I don't know how you place your best defender on someone other than Robinson in the fourth.

I felt kind of bad that it felt like Deng thought he needed to remind people that he actually is in bad shape and not able to play.

Who the fuck does that Lou Gerhig guy think he is? Get your lazy ass out on first base!!

Listening to Laurence last night, some people still think Deng was simply out with the flu. Unfortunately, some fans just default to "he's a pussy" anytime an athlete is out with anything other than a shattered fibula.

Athletes Can Play Through Those Injuries, Says Man Who Gets Sore From Sitting Too Long

NEW YORK—Despite his incessant complaints that resting his buttocks on a chair for prolonged periods of time causes him discomfort and pain, a man paid to provide sports analysis insisted Sunday that athletes should be able to play regardless of injuries attained through physical action. "The second they get nicked up they want to spend the game sitting on the bench drinking Gatorade," said the man, who "tweaked" his knee last week when he stood up for a moment during a commercial break. "It's pathetic how pampered and soft these athletes today are. Hold on, just adjusting my cushion here for a second." The man, who said during the broadcast that playing through pain is what separates the men from the boys, reportedly had a terrible night's sleep in his hotel suite because the silk pillowcase felt too smooth on his face.

To be fair, its hard to keep track of all the injuries without a medical degree.

They are practically a M*A*S*H unit

I will allow for the possibility that perhaps I've been a bit tough on Laurence. I'll approach listening to him differently and see if it works.

That's true, but the trend has been Robinson isolations for the most part during the BKN series. I fully expected the Heat to shut Robinson down with LBJ if the game ever came down to the wire. Having medicare eligible Ray Allen on the opposing team's best penetrator with the game on the line is inexcusable. They should put LBJ on Robinson in the fourth like they put him on Rose in 2011. Even though Bellinelli can play, i'd rather have the ball in his hands over Robinson if I'm the Heat.

If Im a Heat fan, Im pretty pissed at Dwayne Wade

Down 2 with under a minute and he shoots a bad three with like 15 left on the shot clock

Trying to be the hero, meanwhile LeBron fucking James is off on the side watching the miss.
