A 28-year-old woman from the south suburbs has died after choking on a hot dog during a Cubs game at Wrigley Field, authorities said.

Maureen Oleskiewicz was attending the game Sunday afternoon with her brother when she began choking, officials said.

A spokesman for the Cubs said Oleskiewicz was sitting in the bleachers, and that ballpark staff and emergency personnel responded around 12:55 p.m. Sunday. She was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center by a private ambulance on standby at Wrigley, said spokesman Julian Green.

Oleskiewicz was pronounced dead at the hospital at 9:10 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

The Cubs released a statement saying the organization was "saddened to hear news of the untimely death of Maureen Oleskiewicz. We express our deepest sympathy to her family and friends. We will continue to keep her family in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time."
