 Post subject: HOF Scouting exhibit

The scouting reports in this exhibit are available on-line. I can and will spend many hours reading these old scouting reports. Most are pretty detailed but this one from Jimmy Dykes on Mickey Mantle sums it up pretty quickly.

That's awesome. He had him as a future 40 hitter. Oops.

This is a good one on Chipper Jones from a White Sox scout. He called him a "disappointment".

I hate it when HOF players are disappointing. :)

Lots of Karkovice entries (13) -- interesting to see how everyone is really high on him initially until they see him play. This one has a lot about the family history which sounds unfortunate.

This one on Harold is great too. Calls him an introvert and unemotional. Also says he's nonchalant but hell he can really generate some bat speed.

The thing about him was he was Bill Veeck's neighbor and Veeck had seen him play since he was 5 years old. He scouted him in Little League. The Sox were gonna take him with that pick no matter what.
