Pat Robertson’s cheating advise suggests that men are unfaithful, by nature. The host of The 700 Club offered the unusual advice, in response to a woman who was devastated by her husband’s cheating

As reported by the Huffington Post, Robertson stated “he cheated on you, well, he’s a man.” Robertson continued, explaining that women are responsible for keeping their husbands happy at home. He points out that women need to “make a home so wonderful that he doesn’t want to wander.
He advises women to “look pretty” and “look alert” to keep their husbands’ attention. He underlined his view by relating a story about an “awful looking” woman who approached her pastor for marital advice. She stated that her husband had developed a drinking problem.

Robertson delivered the punchline: “Madame, if I was married to you I’d start to drink too.”

What a nuckin fucklehead.

Can I say that KI?

Pat Robertson has used his "700 Club" platform for saying stupid things in recent years. A case in point. He wanted the U.S. Government to assassinate Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

Pat has also come under fire for using his "700 Club" platform for controversial remarks he's made about Hurricane Katrina, the earthquake in Haiti, abortion, etc.

What makes the Robertson quotes even more unfortunate is this. Although ABC Family airs a disclaimer before & after every "700 Club", they can't just pull the plug on the hourlong broadcast. "The 700 Club" was part of the deal when ABC Family's parent company The Walt Disney Company acquired the network in 2001. If ABC Family tried to pulled the plug, Robertson & his lawyers would have Disney lawyers in court in a heartbeat.

Guys, I speak the truth. There's absolutely nothing ABC Family can do to stop Pat. Pulling the plug on his "700 Club" simply isn't possible unless ABC Family wants to find themselves in court.

SHARK, why is there absolutely nothing ABC Family can do?

Couldn't they choose not to air Pat Robertson's Hour of Hate?

Because "The 700 Club" isn't like other shows.

It's part of the deal when ABC's parent company The Walt Disney Company acquired the channel in 2001 from FOX's parent News Corporation (the former FOX Family) & Robertson's company International Family Entertainment (the former CBN/Family Channel). It's a very tricky subject just trying to explain.

So ABC Family can in fact do something.

The only thing ABC Family can do is air disclaimers before & after the show 3 times every weekday. This is what I'm referring:

"The following/preceding CBN telecast does not reflect the views of ABC Family."

TP, it was part of the original sale stipulation. It's also a requirement. ABC Family is stuck airing "The 700 Club", no matter how stupid Pat's remarks can be. It's beyond my control, and I tried to explain it as best I could.

They can also say that the show doesn't reflect the values of Disney and run the stupid show thrice daily at 1, 2, and 3 AM.

Piss on the walking corpse of Pat Robertson.

The Huffington Post doesn't watch the 700 Club. There are organizations such as Media Matters that have people watching all the different TV shows to find controversial moments.

I think people tend to think in an affair that it's all just the one person. When the truth is that marriage is a partnership and if you don't want your partner running off with other people you have to do your best to keep him/her from straying. Part of that includes being attractive and being attentive to your spouse. The same could be said to a man whose wife is cheating on him. He may be a fat husband who doesn't pay any attention to his wife. By being that person you are making it that much easier for your spouse to cheat.

He said the United States should "take him out," which doesn't necessarily mean assassinate. Chavez was a socialist dictator. He was not really much different than Fidel Castro.

Pat Robertson founded the Family channel network. He sold the network to News Corp and they sold it to ABC. As part of their agreement the show is featured 3 times a day.

People always react negatives to something Pat says on the show and blow it out of context and proportion. I would encourage any detractors to sit down and watch the show rather than just spouting off about something he said in a clip.

Honestly, how many episodes of his show have you watched? I just need a ballpark number to determine your familiarity with the host.

I'm just going to go out on a limb and guess that 99 percent of this board has not watched one full episode of the 700 Club.

PR's argument is based on a fallacy; a spouse or partner or whatever is not necessarily drawn toward another person because his/her partner has become unattractive. This blame the victim logic projects some sort of noble motivations on men for why they cheat, when it really could be that some men are just plain jerks.

You're kind of speaking in all or nothing terms. Either it's 100 percent the spouse's fault or zero percent the spouse's fault that the other spouse cheated. I don't think Robertson's advice was 100 percent either way. I think his was a general piece of advice. It doesn't necessarily have to specifically be about cheating. This idea that both partners have a role in a divorce is a valid point, especially with divorces that are not about cheating or physical abuse.
