What the hell has JR done for the Bulls since Jordan left?

How could I take that as anything other than you saying "Jordan has little or no impact anymore"?
Because that isn't what it said?

I was pointing out that Jerry has continued to keep the Bulls above the Celtics who have their own rich history and even more recent success. No where did I say Jordan had little or no impact.

If you dont think answering "Jordan has been gone for 15 years " indicates Jordan has little or no impact currently, I dont know what to tell you.

Chicago is a larger media market than Boston. I don't think, in a world where teams profit greatly from RSN ownership (Bulls have it, Celtics don't), it requires a Herculean effort to have a Chicago team worth more than a Boston team.

Do you think the Bulls were close to the Celtics on the day that Jerry bought the Bulls?

In terms of valuation? Relative to today, yes, I do. I'll have to look it up, but I would wager that for the most part in the 1970s, early 1980s when both franchises changed hands, there was not the same disparity between, say, the Bucks or Spurs and the Bulls and Celtics. I mean, sure, there was a difference, but not a difference of hundreds of millions of dollars like there is today, which when you write it out and see it in front of you is really kind of bonkers.

EDIT: the Celtics were sold in 1983 for $17 million, the Bulls were sold in 1985 for $16 million.

In 1986, the Celtics sold public shares of the Celtics at a valuation that put the whole team worth $100 million. That is the more accurate comparison.
