I very much like Dusty Baker the person but really don't like him as a manager. I can't really enjoy it but man....just totally freezes up in tight spots. Two times he should have gone out to the mound before Poser came up. Unreal.

That's hostile.

Playing the Angels, Nationals and Cards is a tough way to begin a season. Good to see the Reds start 3-1 with a +15 run differential after four games.

The reds completely dismantled Haren and Duke today and it didn't even sound like it was the big guns providing the offense. Cozart and Frazier with 2 bombs a piece.

They have a good balanced lineup, with league-average+ bats at most every position. The elite LH thunder from Votto and Bruce is well known, but they have a decent amount of right handed lefty-mashing role players as well. All the Ludwick absence will mean is that Dusty will have to go to Heisey a bit more than he would like.

Without looking it up, i can't recall if they have any Hinske or Stairs "veteran bench presence" type guys that toothpick man has long preferred.

First Brandon Phillips and his off day a few years ago, and now this. I wish the Reds would stop doing stuff like this. It's getting harder for me to hate them.

At what?

Winning baseball games.

I believe they will win more regular season games than any other team.

I'm of the opinion they are no better than the 4th best NL team.

Natinal
Brave
Giant

They may finish second to the Cardinal :drunken:

I dont know why, I cant buy the Nats. I have this illogical feelling based in nothing that they will not be as good this year. I still think they'll be good, just more like 88-92 good. Not 98-104 good.

Braves could be. I disagree on the Giants though. I know that seems foolish after the last couple few years but I dont see it.

It is amusing to me that the Philadelphia Phillies have a broadcaster named Rickey Ricardo.

He also happens to be the last guy to throw a no no. I believe.

I believe you are correct.

J. Hood really doesn't know sports all that much, outside of hoops. He didn't make the connection when the studio TV switched to Reds coverage for a possible no-no.

I barely follow baseball anymore and even I knew about Bailey's previous no-hitter.

I venture to say that Dusty might be one of the worst active managers in the league right now. In 04 and beyond the Cubs routinely played below their talent level.

Do I worry about the Reds? Not with Baker leading them. Not at all.

 Prophetic.

Oh really? You don't think that the Cubs should have beat the Marlins? That he did right by not pulling Prior when he was having his hissy fit? Perhaps you were a big fan of Neifi "Testicular" Perez? Or you enjoyed the 2004 and 2005 meltdowns before that agonizing 2006 season. I always found his bullpen handling suspect, his "guys" lacking, his "oh well, dude, stuff happens" crap irritating. He hid behind his child and likely false claims of racism at the end of the Cubs run and did the same cowardly shit today. Like I say about Romo, Dusty isn't a winner. I don't think he's particularly inspiring to his players. He's just there, letting whatever will happen happen around him. You could get better and more emotional managing with an excel spreadsheet.
