Im not a J. Jones fan either, but hes really helping them right now til Pie is ready. Harry's hate for him sounds like Murph. Maybe they should do a show together.

When he can't say that Jones is playing well, he sounds like an idiot.

He is an idiot.
After realizing that the show has not changed from the last month even with Mac back, I switched over to B&B, which is hard for me to do. But guess what, they had Farmer and Stone on talking INTELLIGENT baseball, not Horseshit Harry ranting like a 3rd grade child. Pull the plug on the loser, he's killed listening to the show for me. I guess I'm just another ratings point loss for this formerly very good show, that now is a complete waste of time.

Oh please Mac, what the show really needs is some more music crap. You better change the makeup of this show or the ratings decline will be permanent.

BTW, Jacques Jones is FAR BETTER at his job than Harry is at his.

Mac has been a breath of fresh air to the show and has reeled in Harry a little bit, but he's still way too over the top and it seems like he's just trying to be annoying now (it's working very well). I couldn't listen today. Had to turn it off.

Harry could use a vacation.

A permanent one would be best.

I listened to exactly 13 minutes of this show today and decided my time would be better spent listening to the post-game show of a ballgame I didn't even listen to.

Jones is possibly the least interesting story on the Cubs this season and the comparison of Harry to Murph is apt. Both are incredibly annoying and both have decided to rally against Jones apropos of nothing. Trading Jones would accomplish absolutely nothing. The good thing about Piniella is that he, unlike Dusty, does not allow a player to hurt the team over a long period of time. He benched Jones for sucking, and if he starts to suck again he will get benched again. Play him while he is hot and while he is not losing you games.

Yeah, I'm not really sure I understand the J.Jones hate out there. Lou is playing him because he's been hitting. He's not playing him for his stellar defense. If he keeps hitting, he'll probably keep the job for the rest of the season. Cub fans should be happy that they are getting offensive production from him.

DING DING DING DING DING DING!

Sure, I think the signing was bad. I did not like it at the time and I was puzzled by the years and money, but if he is contributing then I do not see why he needs to be the subject of such debate. Noone is going to trade a starting MLB CF for him, and Pie just aint ready, so Pagan and Jones is the best option for the stretch run, I think.

Jones/Pagan/Floyd, and occasionally DeRosa in RF will have to hold down the large majority of playing time for the rest of the season.

I also thought the signing was a questionable move, especially giving him the three year deal, but he actually may be valuable still, at least for this season, because Pie just isn't ready.

I normally don't say or think things like this, but the mindless and never ending hatred spewed toward Jones like the crap that came from Harry today lead me to think race could be the reason. Harry is so insanely over the top positive on everything else Cubs (ie Lou is the best MLB Manager in HISTORY) and the team is one of the best in baseball the last 2 months, but he's still ragging on Jones even though he's helped them out a lot recently.

If anything just ignore him because he hasn't screwed anything up and they are winning. As far as I know, there isn't any sort of personal grudge behind Harry's dislike for him and race is the only thing I can think of at this point. I really hope it's not the case but what the hell else is there? Either way it's shitty radio. Harry really needs a long time out. Until then I'll have to put myself into the penalty box with MJH and switch to B&B. I can't listen to it anymore.

I actually thought the Jones deal wan't that bad. But not I suspect a racial undertone.....

The race issue is a bit of a reach.
I did not like the Jones deal either. But he is contributing, so play him until he's not. They are stuck with him.

J Jones is a dick and I'm still bitter about the Tom Landry firing. He loves his extra picks though.

J Jones' show was WAY more entertaining than Jerry Springer's.

Murphy hated the move since Day 1 if I remember correctly.

I've always thought from day 1 Jacque Jones has been treated like garbage in this town. I defended him from the bunch of drunk idiots in the stand during that home opening homestand where Jones was still looking for his first hit. Then every jackass stood up and cheered the shit out of him when he blasted a much needed 3-run homerun to help the Cubs complete the sweep against the Cardinals. Jones would go on to be the only guy doing anything for this team for most of the year while Aramis would play when he could (I believe he was battling injuries all of last year and Dusty was mum on the whole thing, just like with Jacque) putting up impressive, but at that point, meaningless numbers along the way.

So again Jones gets shit on by Cub fans for getting off to a slow start and again I defended him from all the drunk bums at the games saying if you give him consistent playing time he'll still hit around .290, knock in runs, and hit some homers for us. Sure enough, Jacque is doing what he always does. He's a slow starter. Is this a race thing? Ehh, might be a stretch. I don't think Harry is like that. However, these fans at the Cubs games..I don't know man. I wonder how Ryne Sandberg would have done in this town if he was black (Ryno notorious for slow starts). Now granted, Jones has base running issues and throwing issues (which I still believe are due to some nagging injury). He's surely won't be getting MVP anytime soon, but the crap he puts up with from Chicago is ridiculous.

I'm embarrassed half the time to be a Cubs fan. It's not because of the losing tradition. It's because of people that act like Harry. It's because of people who act like losers who throw garbage on the field whenever they are drunk, pissed, and confused. And I've decided I've had it with throwing the ball back too just because Cubs fans are already embarrassing enough, we don't need someone with at least half a brain throwing a ball back because of tradition. I never was proud of the ball throwing thing, but didn't necessarily hate it either. I've had it with Cubs fans...Or the posers that go to the games.

One last thing to say after my two week slumber from these boards and thats that I have to admit I think the MJH show has really lost some steam. It was losing it before Mac got he boot. It was losing it even more when he was gone. And since he's been back I just haven't been laughing along and having a good time really. Boers and Bernstein have been putting better shows together and you guys, well maybe you do, have no clue how crazy it is I'm sayin that. Hopefully these three get their shit together and i don't want to hear football season will cure this. The guys down the dial, Waddle and Silvy (insert gay WR/Silvy joke here), and HOOD are doing just fine for my listening entertainment the past month or so. Hopefully Mac can appreciate the candor and tell me that I suck at my job too like he did last time or something,

Go Cubs.

I hope so and like I said don't really ever think or say things like that but especially with a guy like Harry I can't think of any other excuse right now. He did and said some dumbass stuff last year a few times but this is a whole new season and the team you kiss ass to constantly is on a hot streak but he is still bashing the hell out of the guy while sucking off everyone else. It makes no sense. Whatever, I'm sick of the Jones talk, Cub blowjobs, and done with this show until it gets back to how it used to be.

Then why does he always chirp about Cliff Floyd?

It's not race related, but now you Sox fans are peering into why I was anti-Harry during the lead up to the NFC Championship last year. It's just a total disregard for any other team, and it just gets on my nerves.

And WR, good post. Glad to see you're back...?

I don't think it's race related either. We all have our own Savoir Faires. I couldn't stand Neal Anderson or Jeff Jaeger. I don't think it's anything more than that.

I think some of the shows problem for me has been lack of new material. Instead of discussing sports or even unplugged topics, they will discuss why it's okay to be a Cub and Sox fan for 5 minutes for the 5000th fucking time. I've heard it, when the conversations starts, I know exactly what will be said. I have been growing more tired of the small arguments. The Jones stuff today was tiring.

If somebody wants to tell me I suck at my job that's fine. I don't have one and I do suck at nothing.

One of the main reasons I stopped being a Cub fan was the other fans. Ryan I hope you didn't blow your load on that post...keep in touch.

I liked Jeff Jaeger. I have no explanation for why I liked him, but I did. Maybe it was the name.

WR, I would hope Mac wouldn't repeat that stance.
I've read your posts on here, and I thought you were usually pretty positive with your sentiments about MJH -- am I wrong here?
Anyways, kudos for your honesty.

Why? :(

Exactly what I was thinking. He is the best RB the beloved have had in the post payton era. Before he starred at RB he was a monster special teams player. He also chose to be a quasi fullback for payton in the last year. I cannot think of another 1st round pick RB who was willing to do everything that Anderson was willing to do to make the team good.

Before concussions took their toll on him he was probably the most versatile RB in the league, as well.

Hey Woodridge Ryan: "Mac told me I suck at my job...." What are you talking about? What would I know about you and your job? Criticize the show as harshly and as frequently as your Harry-broken heart desires, but please don't promulgate fairy tales.

 The things that get a response from Mac sometimes...Actually you did say that in a PM to me when I had a constructive criticism of the show about 6 months back. I found it funny, hence the " " after I posted it. How about addressing what Spaulding said about the show? Her criticism of the show is one specific reasons that I was thinking of that hits the mark. Instead, you only comment on something you perceive to be a jab at you. not a jab. Something that happened...which got a "LOL" from me at work.

As for Harry, that's water under the bridge or however Carmen might mess up the cliche.

Chill Mac. You don't want me calling Jim Pastor, do you?
