Bears will bring him in for a workout.

Trestman is "intrigued" by Russell. They will also bring in 3 other QB's.

Maybe he needs a guy for a pie eating contest.

"Area Man Didn't Even Know It Was A Pie-Eating Contest" is one of my favorite Onion headlines ever.

EDIT: the best ever is still "Jurisprudence Fetishist Gets Off On Technicality"

Say what you will about Lovie and his cavalcade of dipshit offensive coordinators, but they never would have been intrigued by the biggest bust of a generation.

What is the upside to this? He plays well for one or two games when Cutler is out this year? What does that do for the team? No one is gonna trade for him and you arent going to pick him long term over Cutler. I mean what's the fucking point here?!?!

Emery clearly doesn't believe recent NFL experience is needed to be good.

I'm a Lovie fan, but even I can't totally agree with this. Perhaps they weren't intrigued by free agent busts, but they certainly had no problem drafting busts, or putting players like Hester in position to be busts. This is assuming Lovie had some say in Angelo's drafts.

Based on what I heard, the former #1 pick of the Oakland Raiders back in 2006, along with Eagles' third-stringer & ex-Bills & Jaguars' backup Trent Edwards & ex-Jags & Bengals' backup Jordan Palmer will be among the unemployed QBs that the Bears will try out Friday.

It doesn't seem like much, but in the event any of the Bears' quarterbacks get injured, the team might have an idea who could be available to them during the season as a stopgap.

We're going to get him in the building and get his codeine information.

If he really has lost 50 pounds and is back to his LSU weight, this is a good move. See what he can do.

I thought I read he was down to 260-265. Was that LSU weight? I know Roethisberger is very big but 265 pound qb?

To what end? A replacement for Cutler? Trade bait?

This city loves it's backup QBs.

Isn't Tebow better than Russell? I dunno, I'm just asking.

Its just a workout, they didn't sign him.

If Cutler (god forbid) or McCown goes down with injury, then of these 4 guys they workout they will know who to call for an emergency QB. I don't have an issue with it.

Russell's weight loss is mentioned here: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutd ... 15516.html

I've got no problem with the Bears trying to gather intel on which unemployed QB could help them in a backup or third QB role. For a team in win-now mode, this is wiser than investing a draft pick in a short-term backup and possible long-term starter in a draft that had a dearth of QB talent.

Emery must really not value his time or his coaches. Jamarcus Russell has a 52.5% career completion percentage. No use for that in Trestman's offense.
