Everyone remembers Jordan hitting the shot over Russell, but it was actually Malone who spurred that whole play by turning over the ball to Jordan just prior to the famous shot.

0-2 vs Jordan in the Finals, plus an assist to MJ when Utah was up one with less than 30 seconds to go in game six. That really cemented his reputation as a player who couldn't deliver when it mattered. He's got nothing to stand on.

Malone had 23 turnovers in that series. That's insane.

Paul George had 40 against Miami

Pretty crazy for a forward to have that many though. Its not like malone was running the point.

but what about the ol' "role reversal" when he'd hand off to a cutting Stockton at the high post ????

I guess just because he's a power forward and played in the post primarily it seems way high.

Looking at the other series. Barkely had 10, Kemp had 24, Perkins had 8, Worthy had7 and Buck Williams had 15

Kemp played like a 3 though.

For a power forward it sure is.

My team of Magic, Jordan, Bird, Duncan, and Hakeem is destroying anybody else's team.

You think the difference between Pippen and Bird = Destruction?

Looks like Malone increased his TOs in the Finals by nearly 1 more per game. He had 3.83/g in the Finals vs 3 in the regular season. He also scored two points less per game in the Finals.

http://www.nba.com/jazz/stats/1997/nba_ ... stats.html
http://espn.go.com/nba/player/stats/_/i ... arl-malone

Since Malone is an all-time great himself, I'd be more willing to listen to what he has to say about the greatest players of his era than I would someone like John Salley, who is also a noted Jordan basher. I don't agree with Malone about Jordan, but I'd still listen in.

Malone was smart to leave himself off his list; he knows no one would pay his list any attention if he was on and Jordan, to whom he lost in back to back championship series, was not. Russell gets notoriety because of the shot, but to me Malone is the goat in that game for turning the ball over. If he doesn't turn it over, it's still a Jazz lead with under 30 seconds to go against an old and tired Bulls team. The Jazz swept the WCF, while the Bulls went seven and almost lost against Indiana, making them tired for the Jazz series. Pippen was already injured and only scored eight points in game six. Who knows what could have happened in game seven. The loss is on Malone.

I wouldn't say Kemp played like a 3, I'd just say he was bad with the ball. I don't think he had a reputation has one of the more fundamentally sound PFs in the game.

My team would beat yours approximately 146-62.
