Love the Tebow move! Could care less if the kid thinks God has some role in football. You know Tebow busts his ass and gets the most out of his talent. No issue with this kid as an Hback, or short yardage QB.

Fact is Belichick wins with guys who are good football players.

The 'He has Tom Brady" detractors dont know shit. Belichick drafted the kid and not only drafted him, kept him as a 4th QB! Give me the last team that kept 4 QB's on an active roster. Then moved the kid up to No. 2 based on practice, then started when Bledsoe went down, so this is not by luck that Belichick ended up with him.

Woodward, Edelman, Gronk (2nd round)...bottom line is the guy knows football players.

Something that has lacked in Chicago for YEARS!!!

Tebow ill do just fine for the Patriots in the roles the Pats put him in.

An NFL team drafted him in the first round. Another NFL team traded a high pick for him. Now a third, maybe the most renowned organization in the league mind you, is about to sign him.

That's 10% of the league that has put some pretty good stock in the guy. Either they are collectively stupid or people see something that they would like to try to work with.

I dont think New England is expecting 1st round production from him, but that is what Billy Ball is, he gets players.

PLAYERS! Not Pool Jumpers, or guys that Look the part, or the All Airport team, etc. It's really not complicated. You watch the tape of a game and see who stands out, you then focus on those guys and look for more tape on that player! see how he PLAYS!

I know a dumb guy when I see and hear him and Mike Tice WAS/IS DUMB! And while he was never the man who was suppossed to be picking Carimi, it's is about as good of an example of how dumb Tice was.....they dont pick Carimi without Tices input as "The best OL we have" right after he was picked.

But the point being the Patriots acquire good football players, because THEY PLAY GOOD FOOTBALL! and if they can play football, Bill will find you a spot.

So you are giving a shoutout for the Pats singing a try hard rah rah type guy?

If the White Sox signed the same type of guy, you would be Dbagging them. WYC, bigfan?

Or they signed a guy off the scrap heap to the equivalent of a minor league contract.

Belichick is copying the White Sox!

Edit: Dammit Frank...

The contract reportedly doesn't include ANY guaranteed money.
Here's how I see it. Tebow's leverage dwindled to the point where a quality NFL club picked him up to use him as THEY saw fit.
The talk about putting Tebow in for short yardage or two-point conversion QB snaps -- makes little sense -- when you have one of the best all-time QBs behind center.
Belichick is hardly going to open up to the world his plans for Tebow -- so I think it's a little early to state that he will see all of his practice time at QB.

Maybe the first two teams seem even wiser for jettisoning Tebow in such a short timespan?.

maybe they signed him just to get intel on the Jets (as if there is any intelligence with that team) and will drop him afterwards

Was Jerry Angelo raised in your esteem for realizing soon after drafting him that Dan Bauzin couldn't play?

Obviously the Patriots see something in Tebow, but the contract appears to mean they aren't truly sold on his talent.

Do you think Belichick didnt want to show the Jets he can use Danny Woodward when they didnt? of course he did

And why does anyone think this guy will play QB? Outside of a trick play or 1 yard triple back running play...and thats a maybe

This guy will play TE/HB/FB special teams....if he makes the team

I am giving them a shoutout for signing a good football player.

I guess Frank didnt see any of this guy play college football. He ran the ball. He is about 6'3" 240/250 and he gets low when running the ball. The guy scored 20 rushing TD's in one season in college. Dont care if they are all from the 1 yard line and if they are then the Bears can use him!

Belicheck has a GREAT History of using guys in many different positions on the field and thats what I suspect he will do with Tebow, as I am pretty sure he isnt taking Bradys job and Belicheck isnt exactly a guy that loves more press.

But nice to bring it back to the Sox Frank.

You know who else was great in college? Curtis Enis. Cade McNown. Ryan Leaf.

Fact; if the Sox signed/drafted a "rah rah" type guy who was good in college you would be all over them.

OK Frank, you are right

Belichick is an idiot for signing a "rah rah" guy, he has a terrible track record and you know more about Football than he does.

The Sox don't sign Rah Rah guys, they sign Steroid guys.

Tebow signed a non guaranteed deal, so I will guess no more than $750K? Veteran Minimum, so if they get a holder for FG's, a Special teams guy and a short yardage guy, he is all they want from him. The thought he will even get a locker close to Tom Brady is foolish.

He is fine as my 3rd QB as well, if it comes to that. He is better than Caleb of the Hanies and a very long list of other Bears 3rd string QB's that I can only guess, looked OK when it came to throw in practice and when a real game was there....POOOPS!

I like the move. It's low risk and has the potential to be a move that helps the team win a game at some point they otherwise might have dropped. The kid is a very good athlete and he gives maximum effort. Everyone has said that he's a great teammate and a hard worker. So why not give him a chance and see what roles he might fill well? Plus as Big Fan says, the opportunity to make GOOD use of Tebow (like they did with Woodhead) unlike the Jets who misused him, has to be a very desireable factor .

Frank didn't say Belichick was an idiot, he said you would slam the Sox for bringing in somebody else's failed first round pick, on the cheap, which you have done many times. Frank is right.

The fact is, when the Sox were champions in 2005, it was in large part because of several players (Contreras, El Duke, and Dye to name a few) that had failed elsewhere and were obtained on the cheap. For a number of years kenny Williams was not given much money to spend on payroll and had to seek out players who had struggled elsewhere but he (or his scouts) identified as good players who could do much better for the Sox. He did much worse in recent years when he was given more money to spend and he spent foolishly.

Define "good." He has been awful in the NFL.

It's a "good" signing because they can cut him tomorrow. It's worth a shot to see what he can do, but this isn't some genius move.

BTW, when are people going to notice Belichick hasn't won anything since cheating? That was 9 years ago. Maybe he isn't as good as he seems?

Dye was a gold glover and an All Star before he came to the Sox. That is not a failure

El Duque was one of Cuba's best pitchers, had an incredible run in the WS with the Yankees twice before he came to the Sox. That is not a failure.

Jose Contreras did not have a lot of MLB success before he joined the White Sox, but had a proven track record in Cuba and was not a failure.

A little bit of Google searching, Steve, would have showed you that these guys were very successful ball players before they came to the Sox. Your point is not a good one. You should probably call in to at least 2 radio shows today with this bad sports thought.

A.J. was a pretty good signing before the '05 season, as well.

Exactly. Where they obtained on the cheap? Yeah, some of them were. Were they failures? In the case of Dye and El Duque, abosultely not. The jury was still out on Contreras and he proved to be awesome for a stretch as well.

The 2 Cuban guys were probably at least 3 or 4 years older than they said they were. Contreras is the Cuban Satchel Paige.

I am not sure where that knock on KW comes from? Probably because the ones listed while still good were not the marquee FA's of any one year. KW was very efficient. I think for the most part since Frank Thomas arrived the Sox have been competitive year in and year out.

As for the Cubs thing I'll never understand how Castro/Rizzo are always sunshine and rainbows they are the stars to be while basically the same players Beckham/Viciedo are piles of shit supposedly.

Mike, not even I would suggest that Beckham has been as good as Castro.
