Officiating???
Hardly.
The Spurs fell apart in the fourth quarter -- pure and simple.

It's not about who had more or less fouls. It's about the fouls they didn't call when Parker would drive to the hoop. Many of those would be fouls in the regular season.

The officiating was awful.

When a team is trailing by 30 and loses by nearly 20, you can't blame the officiating. I'm sorry. Spurs just got outplayed. I saw it in the first quarter...offensively they were flat. Defensively Miami got after them. That's all there is to it.

Why can't you? The bad calls kept Miami close and eventually helped push them over the top.

Spurs just gave away a game. LeBron played terrible and they couldn't win. This will be a 20 point win. The Heat play with more confidence when they're ahead. Bosh will even hit a 3.

In fairness to the Spurs the officiating has been awful. There should be an investigation.

This was my post at the end of the 3rd quarter.

Tim Duncan missing 15 shots in a row helped with that too.

Miami was gonna win that game regardless, but only a fool would say the officiating was balanced and/or consistent.

I still like the Spurs in 5. That's as bad as they are capable of playing collectively.

I know. That's one of the many I was referring to.

Other than Bosh hitting a 3 it was completely accurate.

Miami won because they're the better team. The gap between the Heat and Spurs may not be huge, but the Heat are still better. If SA's shooters go cold, they're in trouble. They did decent yesterday and still lost. The Heat don't need as many players to get hot as the Spurs do to win against each other.

:)

You're aware of the irony of using that GIF in response to my post, right?

I'll go as far as saying the Spurs win 2/3 in SA, but Miami is winning this series.

I smell what you are cooking.

I agree SA takes 2 out of 3 at home but they win the series.

I think Miami did make quite a few adjustments from Game 1 to Game 2. I think San Antonio being at home should help because of the home court advantage and hopefully some better officiating. A point guard can only drive to the hoop so many times, get knocked down and not be fouled. It also seemed like there were a few plays where the refs were not calling kicked ball.

It's kinda scary that LePout got hot by becoming the pick guy in the screen-and-roll.

While his premise may be logical, it is flawed because there are tons of fouls that, if precedented, would ruin the game. Refs make bad calls all the time - it doesn't mean it starts a precedent.

More from Donaghy, including this:

Quote:
7:00: San Antonio takes out its starters with seven minutes to go in the fourth. I am sure this annoyed Stern—the last thing he wants is a boring finals game. Pop should have known that the refs were going to give every call to San Antonio for the rest of the game, hoping to give his team some chance to make a bit of a comeback. Referees care about TV ratings, too, so they'll narrow the deficit to keep the game interesting. They know that if somebody turns on the game and it's a 30-point blowout halfway through the 4th quarter, that person probably isn't going to keep watching.

He has a lot to say on Crawford in this entry.

That has absolutely nothing to do with his play in the game and in this series.

I know Lebron is strong, but it'd be nice if Green could stand his ground a bit. Weakside rotations are killing them.
