I'm actually glad to hear him say that. Doesn't matter if it's true or not. Players just say shit to the media to give them quotes. Dye's one of those guys. He just wants to go home after the game. The Sox need to sign him now. With that comment it seems like he wants to be here. So I think something will get done. He's indicated he likes it here in the past.

I don't have an issue with Dye staying as long as it's a short-term deal (maybe 2 years with an option if he hits certain numbers). My only problem is that I think keeping his contract (and Contreras') means that Garland is unlikely to be resigned.

I think Dye is getting to the point where if they signed him for two or three years he would need to be part time outfielder/ part time DH. I don't know what you do with Thome then.

That is a solid nucleus. I imagine we will see Vizquel hit 2nd with Pods/Owens leading off. Richar will hit 9th and possibly Sweeney 8th. You can win with that group.

Clean up the bullpen mess and this team can compete.

Hey, when does Thome's contract expire? If it's after next year then you can replace him with Dye as the full time DH and find your right fielder then. We'll have to sign Dye to at least a 2 year deal. Maybe 3. I wouldn't mind him playing DH for the last 2 years of a 3 year deal. He might be able to gut out one more year in right but no more then that.

There seems to be a noticeable lack of one Josh Fields in your lineup, gd. If you have Crede coming back, then why not have Fields in left?

I think Fields will be in left. I think even if Crede is doing well and the Sox are contending the Sox might deal him during the season next year. Not to give up but to get another ready guy to help and then move Fields back to 3rd.

Exactly what I was thinking. I'd much rather see Fields at third than left. I like Crede, but I don't see his back issues going away and I'd rather move forward with Fields than play the waiting game with a back injury. Start Crede at 3rd to start the season and then deal him for help.

Fields will start the year at AAA while Crede is showcased. While I like what he has done, there are certianly parts of his game he can work on in the minors on both offense and defense. He would not look at it as a demotion, as he will be back up by August.

I just have a problem attempting to make a guy learn a position when he knows full well he will not be there in less than a year. I could see a scenario where his fielding will lead to a decline in hitting and a stikeout rate that is astronomical.

How about Crede in left then? Ozzie has blasted Pods for being too fragile, so I think he gone. I'm sure Crede can play left at least as well as Pods and it's a much less demanding position physically than 3rd.

You're kidding right? If Crede's here why the hell would you put a top 2 defensive 3rd baseman in left and have the lessor Fields at 3rd?

A. To give him more time to fully recover from BACK SURGERY

2. To find out if the final answer at 3rd is Fields before next year's deadline

I don't know if having him in left helps the back any more then being at 3rd. More long sprints. You'll still have to dive on occasion in left.

It is if you're wanting to dangle Crede as trade bait for another team, who will likely want to play him at the position he's arguably one of the top fielders at.

I'm saying it only takes one play to wreck the back. Could happen in left just as easy as 3rd. He could put him self in unneccesary jeopordy becasue he'll take a wrong route and be forced to dive. He'll do that because it's a foreighn position.

Crede has been playing 3rd for at least 6 straight years. Maybe his whole life. I don't think he ever played the outfield. Fields has some time in left in the minors. Plus Crede's a gold glove candidate. Why wouldn't you want to utilize that?

Beleive me. It they're both on the team Fields is playing left.

Ozzieball never really existed. You have the second best launching pad in the league. You use that as a strength.

Plus Ozzie ball leads you to beleive that it was an original, unique style that never existed before.

Every style of baseball has existed since 1920. I hate the term Ozzie ball.

Ozzie ball was Guillen whipping his head to see the 2005 Sox hit 200 balls over the fence. "Look at that one go Harold. Weeee!!! We take dat one." That and great pitching.

i dont believe ozzie or kenny have ever used the term "ozzieball" unless they were responding to a media's type question.
