Shame on the Blackhawks for their play in periods 2 and 3. That limp dick defensive style of play after a dominant first period was brutal. Their ABYSMAL power play struck out without even presenting a challenge. Fuck the Blackhawks for that piss poor effort.

Gotta take one of two on the road or else it's a buttfuck to the Bruins.

Boston deserved that one, frankly, after the Hawks let up after the first period. Hjalmarsson had an awful game, and Bolland decided to stickhandle again in the offensive zone instead of taking the shot about a minute before the winning goal. I look forward to his FA, as I'm done with him.

BOS got it done. Hawks came out strong but could only get that 1 goal and then BOS just perserved and finally wore down the Hawks.

Let's see what they can do in BOS.

Keep the faith dammit!

Seabrook sent it up the boards to Bollig who bobbled it and let it stay in the zone.

We've again learned why Bollig shouldn't be out there. Nice surprise in game one. Experiment over.

Nothing again from the captain either. Starting to think he's as useless as Daryl Dragon offensively.

Still boggles my mind. One fucking goal. One. With all those fucking stars they can't muster two clean goals in the most meaningful series of the season.

BOS shut down the Penguins and are doing the same so far to the Hawks, but the Hawks have proven they can win on the road, so let's not panick yet.

Didn't the Hawks score more in one game that the Pens did in the whole series?

Yeah, not the same.

Yeah, not the same.

Just pointing out that BOS is good defensively so this is going to be a grind it out series. Hopefully the Hakws grind out 1 win in Boston or it's gonna be real tough.

I've seen enough of the Bollig experiment.
Hjalmarsson was terrible tonight, & Seabrook & Toews weren't much better. Hossa, Sharp & Crawford were the best Hawks on the ice tonight. Frolik & Johnny were good as well.
Paging Brian Bickell...hello...
Hawks should have won this game 2-1 in regulation. I don't give a shit if the ref blew the whistle. If it was a goal after looking at the replay, then it should be reversed.

What the hell is wrong with Toews?

Did any of the soft-ass Chicago media press Q on Bollig? I missed the press conference.

I'm sure Toews has some kind of injury but its not like he's lit it up the last couple of years in the playoffs. Hawks need their captain now more than ever to show up and do more than just win board battles and face offs. Amazing they have made it as far as they have with Toews putting up 4th line numbers.

It definitely seems that the Bruins are in better shape than the Hawks. Maybe it's that the difference in size is wearing the Hawks down. But I thought Boston became more and more dominant the further and further both games went. The Hawks caught a break winning the first one when they were getting outplayed the last period and a half.

I don't blame Bollig. After our best period of the playoffs, we got dominated throughout the rest of the game. Turnovers everywhere, one and done possessions, awful puck retrieval, etc. Bollig didn't lose this game for us but I still put Stalberg in for him in Game 3 because we need whatever fresh legs we can get, not because of the turnover.

This looked like the game against the Canucks late in the season where they just took runs at us for fun and we couldn't do anything about it. Sometimes your legs just aren't there and the other team wants it just a little bit more than you do. I expect a much better breakout in Game 3.

Painful loss but at least we don't have 2 off days to dwell on it as fans.

I know this isn't a groundbreaking thought, but can someone explain to me how the offense actually looks worse when they are on a power play? It's a miracle when they even get a decent shot off.

Multiple reasons.

When a team is on the PK they're only interested in defense so they just stack all 4 players they have at the blue line to try to prevent entry into the zone. When the Hawks do gain entry, they have no idea what to do with the puck afterwards. The Hawks are a team who likes to run and gun and play with feel. The Hawks don't really have any neat plays in their arsenal. They just stand around and do nothing on the PP, it's brutal. Kompon is a bum of a PP coach, this is well known throughout the NHL already but it falls on the players just as much. They'll have a game this series where they score 1 or 2 nice PP goals in a game and everyone will go "Ohhhh, nice" and then the next game they'll suck again.

Biggest issue with the Hawks is that they don't cycle it behind the net on the PP, which is a strength of theirs 5 on 5.

In 2010 they'd throw it down to Toews on the goal line and he'd send it across to Sharp or drive it to the net. Now when they send it down to the goal line, one player comes and pressures the player with the puck on the goal line, the other guards the slot, the other guards back door and the other guards the strong side dman. Instead of just whipping it behind the net and switching the play, they'll force it through the crease or back to the strong side dman and nothing will happen. Switching the play behind the net is a simple way to get the PKers to move around a little bit and it's a shame they don't do it.

You have to think that the Hawks need to split these next two games or it's pretty much over.

Something that may be somewhat forgotten about the 2010 Cup team was that Dustin Byfuglien had 11 goals in the playoffs that year. Without him the Hawks probably don't make the Finals. Also the Philadelphia Flyers were a 7 seed that year and the Bruins are a 4 seed this year. So the competition this year is much tougher.
