yeap, that's exactly what it was, sir 'thro. by getting rid of traditional "coca cola" and forcing "new coke" on everyone they caused such a shitstorm that people were en masse clamoring for "their coke" to come back. just imagine if "social media" was around back then..... holy shit it woulda been a thing.

i digress; of course, when "coca cola classic" came back, indeed, it had high fructose corn syrup in there as opposed to real sugar, which IIRC you need to find mexican coke in the bottles to actually get coke with real sugar in it (whereas pepsi has the occasional "pepsi throwback" that basically has sugar in place of HFCS) --- all they had to do was deprive the marketplace of "coca cola classic" for 3-6 months or whatever it was, get people reviled at its replacement, then you introduce the "original" product back, albeit with the sugar/HCFS swap, and people are all OMFG YES WOO IT'S BACK HELL YEAH WE DID IT GUISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 and in the end, as always, coke chuckles all the way to the bank as they successfully executed a "worked shoot" on the coke-sucking-masses to ensure there was no major backlash when they changed the fundamental composition of their bellcow beverage: use "new coke" as a scapegoat, remember absence makes the heart grow fonder, and then when it comes back it comes back to massive fanfare and thus nobody ever had a chance to bitch about how coke just changed and it's not as good as it always was because like, its not like coke started costing less to reflect the ingredient change.... ha

"at least it's not new coke" - 200+ million americans who unwittingly fulfilled their destiny to become "the people of the corn" cuz holy shit, if you're american and you have a standard-issue low/mid-level mass produced diet, indeed, you are a person of the corn. seeing as it's the most abundant crop here in america (shouts going out to tobacco!) it's a matter of time / fait accompli that, invariably, you are going to be fed corn in 5000 different ways because basically part of the american dream is eating corn all day long.... and loving it!

Coke cut with xanax was always fun.

Who cares? Anyone who drinks regular coke deserves whatever they get, whether it is with real sugar, or cane sugar, or cocaine in it.

I drink a ton of Diet Coke too, but I know what I am doing and the problems it can cause also. I just don't care. It still shocks me that anyone drinks regular soda though.

By the way, the 10 calorie drinks they've come out with like A&W 10 and Sunkist 10 are really good too.

I havent researched it myself, but I've heard people saying Diet is actually worse for you.

At least right now, the diet soda causes cancer thing is a myth.
Those people are wrong.

However, Diet Soda isn't really good for diets, but it's better than the empty calories contained in regular soda. There seems to be strong evidence that it actually makes you hungrier and those who don't drink diet soda eat less.

If you choose to........

We are big anti-HFCS and I would say very little if any of our food has it in it. We buy organic. It's more costly than the mass produced garbage but I'll gladly pay it. The shit I see parents giving their kids, especially toddlers, make me sick.

I don't have time to care why Coke did what they did Panther. And the switch to HFCS was purely a financial one.

Furthermore, my views and attitudes about my disdain for the medical community are well chronicled here. No shame intended or implied.

Diet pop tastes like shit, that's why people drink regular pop. Diet Dr Pepper isn't too bad, but give me the real shit anytime. You can take your artificial sweeteners & stuff them in a sack.
