How about you work at a job that doesn't depend on the generosity of people to get paid. This rule wasn't sprung on you last minute right before your first shift. And yes, some servers & cab drivers give me lackluster service because they expect me not to tip.

I feel like John C. McGinley in Office Space asking, 'what exactly would you say ya do here' to the waiter or waitress. (you know how the rest goes)

Just tell me what the waitstaff does that the customer couldn't, somebody please.

So hes playing the race card in a not so subtle way as well. Continues to prove what a first class fuckstain he is. Agree with Don Tiny, what the fuck is in the water over at the Score that makes a lot of the people come off like such giant cuntswabs?

Agreed. It's mostly these producers that are the true idiots. Let's be honest. Most of them are uneducated, socially inept, ignorant, angry scumbags and fools. That's fine. That's why the Score gets them on the cheap. But most radio stations don't allow their producers to have a voice on their station for this very reason. The drinkys, Goffs, Herbs and that meatball in the morning get to talk. Not only do they embarrass themselves, which they're too stupid to realize, they embarrass the station. ESPN doesn't let their producers talk.

It's the culture Mitch has allowed. These guys are allowed to be scumbags so they are. But they don't get that their behavior and stupidity is the reason they don't advance. Don't tell drinky. How many times do you hear him cry blame Murph, Fred and management for keeping him down? It's all because of them. Has nothing to do with him being a marble mouth idiot I guess. Same goes for the rest of them.

But the inarticulate misanthropy of the producers is only a symptom of the elitist mentality the Score adopted once it was purchased from Dan Lee by Westinghouse, which in turn became part of the CBS empire. The Score initially aligned itself with the interest of the fan--in part because it was owned by one. The material interests and tone of the station tangibly shifted when it became part of a corporate "family."

Gotta agree with 24_Guy...the concept of tipping, as currently established (especially with respect to restaurants), is fucked up.

There is no reason a restaurant should be able to pay staff less than minimum wage and have the rest paid voluntarily by customers. There is no reason I should pay my server an additional 15-25% of the liquor bill and the tax (!). The compensation for employees should be factored in to the menu prices, period. Having said that, this is the system we are stuck with right now, so I am not about to shortchange the waitstaff.

So your solution is to for restaurants/bars to up prices (essentially upping their keep), paying servers minimum wage or slightly above minimum wage. You think you will get people lining up to be servers/bartenders if they are making $70 or $80 per shift as opposed to $200+ per shift?

Add at least 25% to your usual restaurant tab and see how many people don't go out to eat/drink, how many places close, then how many people are out of work, and you're likely to be one of the first ones bitching about the high unemployment, or your taxes going up to help cover that.

Just factor in a 25% increase in the price of your meal and then pay that because that is likely what would happen in your scenario.

The biggest misconception is that tipping costs people money. It's the opposite. Unless you choose to be a big tipper, it saves you money.

I may have been unclear...I do not oppose the practice because I think it costs me more money. I am fine paying the same overall cost for a meal.

Several upscale restaurants are doing away with the gratuity model. Charlie Trotter's was a notable one (before he closed up shop)...he paid the staff straight salaries and bonuses, with 401k, etc. I suppose there is a risk that restaurants would use this as a way to pocket the inevitable price increases and pay staff the bare minimum, but again, why should restaurant workers be treated differently than those in other service industries?

I also tipped base on how long I'm at the bar. We sometimes spend 5-6 hours at the Fox & Hound on Sundays for football, so I'll tip more (30-35%) because of that.

I'm surprised Herb hasn't logged on to defend his thesis. Can't explain his shit so he's too scared. This is real time feedback from actual consumers of your work product. Sucks when you can't control the content, eh little buddy? You're just a cheap fuck who is trying to save a few rubles. I can understand that. Just own it ya bitch.

I tip my barber but really not all that much. When I bring the boys in for a haircut, he pretty much makes rent on his chair for the day from one customer.

Hey Herb, what's the deal with Larry's falsetto shout of "Alright Herbie, let's go!" before every program? Isn't that annoying?

And what's it like to be Laurence W. Holmes' radio fuck bitch? That's the absolute lowest position at the Score. I'd rather fetch coffee during a Connor McBland and Joe O'Strowski menopause hour.
